Best Times in a Marriage

A couple of months ago, I wrote about the hardest time in a marriage – a combination of what “they” say, and what our experience has been over the last 25 years.

Now for the flip side! What are the best times in a marriage, do you think?

There are a couple of times in my own marriage, that spring immediately to my mind.

Our 2nd Honeymoon

For our 20th wedding anniversary, we stayed on the Gold Coast for a week, without kids … our 2nd honeymoon!

After all the years of child rearing and busy-ness, it was a real treat to just take time for us. I think what made it truly special is that for that week, we escaped the “should” and “must” that often plague us in daily life. There was nothing we HAD to do, nobody we HAD to see, and nowhere we HAD to go – and it was wonderful.

Although our trip to Europe for our 25th anniversary earlier this year was great, I Must Confess: foreign travel can be quite stressful, so I don’t know if I’d count that as one of the best times … though it was certainly a wonderful experience.

Every Day is one of the Best Times in a Marriage!

Maybe we’re ridiculously sappy, but some of the best times in our marriage happen every day.

One of our absolute favourite things to do, is cuddle up in bed in the morning before we have to get up. Such a simple thing, which happens nearly ever day – and yet we would both definitely count it among the best times in our married life.

Finding happiness every day is important – best of all when it’s with the one you married!

What do you think should be on the list of “the best times in a marriage”?
