Bloggers United Brisbane Event

Bloggers United Brisbane Event display

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you probably noticed that I spammed you with a heap of pics from the Bloggers United Brisbane Event a couple of weeks back.

I’d followed from afar when the Bloggers United events were held in Adelaide, Sydney and other capital cities and wished we could have them here … sometimes wishes do come true!

So when crazy cat lady blogger Sammy from Bargain Baglady, mentioned the Bloggers United Brisbane event was only 9 days away, I was like, “WHAT! HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS!”

Off went my email enquiry and the blogging gods were with me, because I. SCORED. THE. LAST. TICKET! I was going to hang out with a heap of other Brisbane bloggers!

So good to meet Sammy on the day!

As I walked into the foyer of the Fox Hotel, I was immediately struck by all the very beautiful, very YOUNG ladies … but fortunately there were a few other (ahem!) mature bloggers for me to “hang” with. (That’s not to say I didn’t hang with the young ones too … one of the first gals I met was the charming Olivia from Olivia’s Beauty Blog, who told me she was 18 – turns out we both live in the same suburb!).

My experience of “life on the older side” continued when I approached one of the market tables, to have the sweet young thing exclaim, “I know you! I went to school with your daughter – and she shares lots of your posts!”

Both of these young ladies knew Miss 19 from school!
Luckily they didn’t hold it against me 😉

FAQ About the Bloggers United Brisbane Event

I’ve had quite a few of you ask me about it, so I thought I’d answer your most frequently asked questions.

How did you score all those amazing goody bags?!

Yes, goody bags, PLURAL. I think I ended up with five to take home!

We were all laden with goody bags, just like Kelsey Sarah!

The event wasn’t free – tickets were $50 – but well worth it. Bloggers United is all about bringing bloggers and brands together; many of the brands are smaller ones with little to no marketing budget, so they are keen to work with bloggers in the hope that we will fall in love with their products and shout their praises across social media 🙂 .

What are your favourite products so far?

There were so many great products, it will take me months to trial them all – Miss 19 promptly claimed half I divvied up my loot with Miss 19 and she will help me trial and review them (if she knows what’s good for her 😉 ). However there are two I am loving already: the Skin Therapy Bee Venom moisturiser, and the Maybelline Colour Sensational matte lipstick in “Touch of Spice” (available at Priceline).

Funny name – great product!

With the lovely Jenni from This Glamourous Mess.

Did you know anybody at the event?

No! Sammy from Bargain Baglady and I had connected online over our shared love of op shopping and cats, but this was our first meeting in real life. I also suspected I would see some familiar faces, after all, I’ve been to my fair share of bloggy events … but nada. It was a totally different (younger!) group to what I have normally encountered.

I also enjoyed spending time with Kellie from Red Delicious, Katrina from Sista with Style, Jenni from This Glamourous Mess, and Candice from Candy Fairy.

What did you do there?

We had a number of guest speakers from different brands, doing demonstrations and teaching us about makeup, health and beauty. During the break for nibbles, we had the opportunity to check out the various displays and chat to brand reps.

What brands are you keen to collaborate with in the future?

Ah now … that would be telling! You’ll just have to wait and see for yourself. I have some ideas that I’d really like to pitch to a couple of the brands, that work with more mature markets. Now to get off my butt and contact them!
