Fashionomics Report: December

Janet Camilleri · 04/01/2017 ·

Welcome to the December Fashionomics Report – and the final one in the series!

This time last year, I predicted I would spend around $1000 on clothes in 2016. But before we find out the final tally, and how accurate my estimate was, let me show you what items I bought in December …

At the Op Shop

Early in the month Miss 20 and I felt the need for an op shop fix, and lo and behold I stumbled across this lovely bright dress.

It’s been home made, and the attention to detail is just amazing! I love how it makes me feel so womanly and feminine. In fact, the hubster loves it so much he reckons I should get a heap of other frocks made with the same pattern (I think he means that *I* should make them, but as I’m only an amateur seamstress, that ain’t gonna happen!). This little gem set me back all of $4.

Shorts and Top

With only one pair of shorts (that actually fits), I felt my wardrobe would benefit from an extra pair – especially seeing as the ones I already had were denim, and really uncomfortable in hot weather.

These khaki shorts are soft and lightweight, as if the peasant top. Both are from Crossroads, and were reduced to $20 each (top originally $34.95, shorts originally $29.95).

Final Fashionomics Report: The Totals

Items bought: 3
This month’s total original ticket “value”: $68.90
I paid: $44
Total Spend for the Year: $1061.42

Seems I was pretty spot on with my personal fashionomics forecast, after all!

How much do you think/guess you would spend on fashion per year?

I’m not a big clothes shopper – I tend to do it in spurts. I really need a light weight (comfortable!!) pair of shorts but haven’t found any that suit so am sticking to my 3/4 pants for now. Love that dress btw – it really suits you (and what a bargain!)

I’m not a huge clothes shopper, my total for 2016 was: 2 Leona frocks (on special), one denim maxi, 6 Bali beach dresses (that I paid a total of $30 for). But books & music? I dread to think- I suspect there’s an overseas holiday in there! I’ve enjoyed following your fashion pics.

Love the $4 dress, and you look so chilled in the shorts and top. Happy new year !

Do you find that keeping track helps to keep your spending under control?!

I’m still holding off on buying new stuff until I know what size I will be. I’m down 38kg though so starting to get more interested in clothes again!!!
