Fashionomics Report: November

Janet Camilleri · 01/12/2016 ·

The hot weather has well and truly arrived here in Bris-Vegas – which means the most comfortable option is a casual summer dress.

In November I bought three!

Online clothing store The Unique Youย had a great one day sale, so I seized the opportunity to buy a couple of dresses I had been eyeing off for a while.

Unique You copper voodoo

Only size 16 was left in this black and copper number (original price $85) so I bought it – and then took it in at the sides as I’m more of a 14. It’s really soft and floaty (I seem to have a thing for floaty garments at the moment!).

Blue Unique You

And – it looks like drop waist dresses are back! The sleeves are a bit restrictive on this one (originally $88) so I am thinking of once again testing my amateur sewing skills by removing them.

The two dresses set me back $47.63 including $7 postage, so I was very happy with my online shopping bargain. They even arrived with a lovely note and a pair of complimentary (and complementary) earrings!

If you haven’t already, do yourself a favour and check out the Unique You website. They cater for women sizes 14 and above, and I love how they show many of the styles on real women, not just models.

Hubster and I were browsing the Sunday markets when I came across a stall with heaps of boho/hippy/tie-dyed dresses. I knew I had to take one home as it would not only be perfect for our upcoming trip to Bali, but also for everyday wear (working from home means I need to stay cool and casual). I can’t find the receipt but I’m pretty sure it was $25. (As my package from The Unique You hadn’t yet arrived, I didn’t realise how similar these two dresses would be … but I regret nothing!)

And finally, I couldn’t decide between these two swimsuits from Best and Less – but with a 30% off sale, I could afford to buy both! Instead of paying $25 each, I got the pair for $35. Bargain!

NOVEMBER SUMMARY

Items bought: 5
This monthโ€™s total original ticket โ€œvalueโ€: $248
I paid: $107.63
YTD Spend: $1017.42

And with that, I’ve just gone over my budget of $1000 for the year. Question is: will I make any further purchases in December?!

Now it’s your turn – tell me about your latest fashion purchases! Do you ever buy clothing online? As you can see, I am starting to (this could be dangerous)!

Looks like you got some bargains here Janet. Soft flowy dresses are so much cooler in the hot weather. I really like both of your swimsuits. They look fab on you! #teamlovinlife

I like the idea of setting a fashion budget – though I am pretty good.
You know how to hunt down bargains and The swimsuits look great on you.
My newest dress was the most I’ve ever spent .

I’ve not been buying clothes lately but did buy two things in November – replace others. My XXL singlet (I wear under everything) from TS14+ was too big so I bought a new M one. And I bought a new pair of casual pants as well as I had a larger size and they were too big, PLUS I washed them with a tissue and they haven’t recovered!!!!

Am still glad you got both pairs of togs!

I was trying to keep on budget this year, but pretty much shot that thought!! But when you get such deals like these—how can you pass them up!!
Absolutely love both swim suits—I haven’t bought one in ages…I think it’s about time!

I take 3 sizes of each clothing into a change room and 95% of the time put them all back – so I can never shop online. It just won’t happen for me. I have to see it on me and jump and squat and sit and fidget.

I’m usually the same Ness but occasionally I get tempted. Usually I am disappointed but not this time ๐Ÿ™‚

Love the first dress on you – it’s such a lovely colour and suits your hair and skin tone (I think!) You’re very brave to photograph yourself in the changing room in a swimsuit (I hate changing room mirrors!) – and you look great in both swimsuits – although at a push I think the right hand side one suits you better. #teamlovinlife

I was surprised that they actually looked good on me Jo – can’t believe I took a change room swimsuit selfie too!!!

You’ve done so well to spend just over your budget for the year Janet. I don’t spend a lot of clothes, but I’m sure I’ve spent more than $1000 this year! ๐Ÿ™‚ #TeamLovinLife

$1000 was a guess more than an actual budget – still I came in pretty close!

I bought two sundresses and two tops at Millers the other day 40% off and the four came to a total of $84 so I was very pleased with myself – and now I have a couple of light weight dresses for wearing over the Christmas break. I love your bargains – you did very well indeed!

There’s nothing like the thrill of a bargain. Must be the ancient cave woman / hunter gatherer instincts kicking in!

Those are some good bargains there! I’ve been tempted to shop but am stopping myself due to finances at the moment…the move was expensive! Love those swimsuits!

Bargains, especially with the bathers – you really should have two pairs on holidays anyway; one to wear and one to rinse and dry!

Look at you miss fashion model! Totally nailing it. I am so impressed with the cheaper swimsuit options on offer these days. In the past I have paid over $100 to get swimwear that sucks it all in and holds it all together, But with Best and Less and KMart offering $25 options that do all the same things, I’m extremely happy. They may only last a season or two, but so did my over $100 swimsuits. In fact, my $25 KMart one from last summer stood up to our chlorinated hot tub much better than my $120 Gold Coast swimsuit did.

Tell me about it Leanne, my last swimsuit cost well over $100 JUST FOR THE TOP of the tankini.
