Feeling the Love …

Janet Camilleri · 16/09/2014 ·

Liebster Awards - feeling the love

I’m feeling the love peoples, and what a wonderful feeling it is 🙂 .

I can only echo Sally Field’s 1985 Oscar acceptance speech: You like me! You really like me!

Thanks to:

  1. Adventures of a Beginner Sewer;
  2. Hugzilla;
  3. Denise Mooney; and
  4. The Style Within;

I have been nominated four times for a Liebster Award (Liebe means love in German right, so I’m totally feeling the love!).

Surely, this is the Bloggy version of the Academy Awards (or maybe not …)?!

The Liebster Awards

Well, there are some similarities. Academy Award nominations are made by their peers in the profession, people who are familiar with the industry and all it’s demands. And it’s been around for aeons (or at least it feels like it 😉 – a Liebster Award post seems to crop up on every blog sooner or later … )

Sadly, there is no grand award ceremony for the Liebsters nor are they televised internationally, so I don’t get to have a red carpet moment. (Although the pic above is actually a photo of me, all dolled up ready to go to a 30’s party some years back …)

In accepting a Liebster Award, the nominee is supposed to prepare some sort of acceptance speech blog post, to answer certain questions. However, with 4 awards in the bag, we’d be here all day, so instead I will share some totally irrelevant trivia with you, about the woman behind Middle Aged Mama. You’re welcome 😉 .

Liebster Award night
I’d like to thank the hubster, my kids, and all my bloggy friends … you know who you are!

1. I’m really uncoordinated. It took me months to learn how to drive a manual car. I have trouble catching a ball. I dance with two left feet. I have trouble following instructions to move in a certain way, so I’d never make a model!

2. I’ve dislocated my right knee three times. I’m not sure, but this could have something to do with Number 1? I now religiously do special exercises daily, to strengthen the muscles that hold my knee cap, because next time it will mean surgery. Hopefully this will never eventuate!

3. My ears are different sizes. My left ear is perfect; my right ear is bigger and sticks out. Fortunately, as a female I have pretty much always been able to hide this flaw behind my hair! If I didn’t point it out, I doubt anybody would even notice (are you going to stalk my old photos now to see if you can spot it?!).

Now, as I know the Liebster Awards have been doing the rounds for quite some time I won’t nominate anyone in particular – but rather, if you HAVEN’T yet been nominated, consider it done … go forth and share the love!

Have you received a Liebster Award? What is one random fascinating fact about you and your blog?!

Linking up with the always famous Essentially Jess for IBOT.

    I’ve received two of these two and I was so overwhelmed by life that it just kind of got away from me. I’m so glad you’re celebrating you! It’s great when we do some self-loving. AND yes we do like you, even with your different ear sizes and all. haha 🙂

      LOL thanks Peachy 🙂 . I must confess I’ve had one of these awards since about April, I’ve only just now gotten around to doing something about it!

    All interesting facts. I’ve been feeling the love lately too with Liebster Nominations and Being cased. It’s nice to be noticed and appreciated by other bloggers. 🙂

      Just goes to show you can have big ears and still be a star. Just look at Dumbo! 😉

    maybe it’s your dissimilar sized ears that are making you uncoordinated? Are you weighted down more on one side? 😉 LOL

      17/09/2014 at 7:48 pm

      OH! I never thought of that! You could be right! 😉

    No awards for me, but then I haven’t played along with the nominating, even though I do love lots of blogs, yours included. You certainly play the academy award winning star very well.

      I must confess I’m hesitant to nominate others because I don’t want anybody to feel left out xxx

    The knee thing sounds painful. Hopefully it doesn’t come to surgery. Well done on four nominations, you are a popular lady xx

    • Janet Camilleri says

      17/09/2014 at 7:49 pm

      Incredibly painful – at age 14, 20, and again at 33. Don’t want to go through that ever again, let alone surgery!

    Man you’re a crack up and I hate to one-up you BUT I have been given FIVE awards…. I just have to find the time to write a bloody post – think I’ll just answer the best question from each person. We both rock! xxxx
    p.s I have the same size ears but one boob bigger than the other – too much info??

    • Janet Camilleri says

      17/09/2014 at 7:49 pm

      Nah I have that problem too Em 😉 … I’m not surprised you’ve been given 5!

    I just love that picture of you looking all gorgeous. I can’t believe you’ve dislocated your knee three times. OUCH! Don’t worry I’m a little unco too. I failed my learners twice. I’ve been nominated for a Liebster a few times lately too and haven’t had a chance to do mine. I feel terrible. Must do it soon. #teamIBOT

    Love the random facts. Of course a Liebster Award it totes like an Academy Award..if not better because you can accept it in your PJs and no one will know!

    4 Liebsters I guess you’ll be in the hall of fame next? I love that I know you a little better and you’ve made me laugh. Thank you. 🙂

    Congrats Janet! You look amazing in that first picture! You had black hair?
    One random fascinating fact about me: I have one foot larger than the other. It’s a nightmare to find shoes…

    • Janet Camilleri says

      17/09/2014 at 7:37 pm

      I’ll let you in on a secret … it’s a wig! And wow, that would be hard. Do you have to buy 2 pairs of shoes to get them to fit?

      • Rita @ The Crafty Expat says

        18/09/2014 at 5:54 pm

        Ahhh!!!
        No, but trust me it is very hard to buy shoes… there’s many styles I just can’t wear…

        • Janet Camilleri says

          18/09/2014 at 6:16 pm

          You need to find somebody with the same problem, only with the opposite foot larger, so you can do swaps 🙂
