I can’t believe that Frocktober 2015 is nearly over.
The disappointment is real, peoples. What am I going to do with myself when the calendar turns to November?!
Quite honestly, I’m surprised. I thought I’d be sick of the sight of dresses by now, but I am still loving every minute of my Frocktober challenge. So many frocks, so little time! It might also have something to do with the fact that I visited a H&M store for the first time on Wednesday and came home with two new frocks *whistling innocently*. But why not – let’s face it, dresses play a major role in my Summer wardrobe. They’re cool, simple and stylish, just what you need in the hot weather – which seems to last a good 9 months of the year here in Bris-Vegas – so I know they’ll all get plenty of wear, long after Frocktober is behind us.
A special shout out to my frock stars this week – Jode and Charmaine – for their donations, which have brought my fundraising total up to $360.75 .
Looking over these photos, it seems I do love a floral frock, though I am starting to notice some geometric prints too …
Day 22
When is a frock not a frock? When you wear it as a skirt! I adore the colours in this tribal print Rockmans top (thrifted); here I’m wearing it over a Seed Heritage slip dress which I bought online a couple of years ago.
Day 23
A simple summer frock (Emerson by Big W), borrowed from a friend. It’s cute, but I think I like it better on her pear shaped figure than on my apple shape.
Day 24
Running errands on a Saturday, wearing a Rivers dress and sandals, both of which I’ve had for at least 3 years now.
Day 24 BONUS FROCK!
On Saturday night we headed out to a Retro Market, so I got into the “swing” of things (see what I did there) by wearing a vintage / rockabilly style ensemble. Dress and stole both from the best op shop in Queensland; you may have seen the dress when I had a retro makeover a while back.
Day 25
For church on Sunday, I wore this comfy Jeans West Maxi that I’ve had for a couple of years. It’s a bit low cut, so I’m wearing a white bandeau underneath though you can’t really see it too well in this pic.
Day 26
This Target maxi dress was another op shop bargain – I fell in love with the border print. It’s a little bit “booby” (low cut) for my liking, but as I was working from home only my kitty and the family saw it.
Day 27
Hi, my name is Janet, and I am a shopaholic. I didn’t mean to buy any more dresses, I swear … but when I checked out the sale rack in Katies I found this pretty dress for just $20. Love the geometric print and the colours! I must confess it’s a size too big for me and I have pinched it at the back with a bulldog clip just for the photo, but I am fully intending to get my sewing machine out to take it in as it looks so much better, slightly more fitted.
Day 28
Another old favourite, this frock came from Valley Girl (bolero was thrifted). I’d always thought of Valley Girl as somewhere my daughter shopped, so was thrilled to bits to find something that a. I liked and b. actually fitted me!
I hope you’ve been enjoying my frockventures as much as I have in bringing them to you. Can I ask a favour? If you have been enjoying following along, could you make a donation? Frocktober is more than just a bit of FUN, it’s a FUNdraiser for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation, which receives no government funding. Sadly, by the time a woman is diagnosed with ovarian cancer it is usually too late … so the OCRF is working hard to find a method of early detection to save women’s lives.
Don’t forget to pop back next Friday for the final Frocktober weekly wrap!
Have you got any particular causes that you are passionate about, or that make fundraising fun?! Leave a comment so I can check them out!

You have done very well Janet. I don’t think I could be bothered making myself look presentable for 31 days in a row and getting my photo taken in a frock! I like slobbing around in my gym clothes mostly! Out of all of the dresses I like the Katies one. The cut and style really suits you. π

Hi Kathy, I must confess it was a pain at first but now it’s just part of my regular morning routine, to get organised and take a snap before I sit down at my desk to work. It’s not always so easy on the weekend either, as you say, I’m happy to dag out then too!
