I’ve had a few people wondering if I actually ended up buying this dress, after I shared a pic on social media a week or two ago.
Sadly – no. I had to leave it in the shop, much as I was tempted.
You see, like many people, we have a household budget. And although I do have a fair bit of freedom when it comes to adding to my wardrobe, it’s certainly not open slather. We live in the real world where paying bills and other boring things sometimes take priority.
It did however inspire me to write a little song about the experience! It goes to the tune of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl and I Liked It”

I Tried a Dress – and I Liked It!
This was never the way I planned, not my intention.
The supermarket seemed so dull, then I saw your mannequin
It’s not what I’m used to, it’s the very latest style.
Costs nothing, to try it, took it into the dressing room.
[Chorus:]
I tried a dress and I liked it,
Perfect fit, colour, style and print
I tried a dress – want to buy it,
Do you think my hubster will mind if
I bring it home,
The budget’s tight.
Don’t want to argue tonight.
I tried a dress and I liked it (I liked it).
No, I put that dress back on the rack, it doesn’t matter.
I have a wardrobe full of clothes, I’ll just look at ya.
I’ll take a pic and show him, his mouth will drop open
I know he’ll be so impressed, he’ll say “Go and buy that dress!”
[Chorus]
New dress – you are so magical,
Latest style, great fit and comfortable.
Hard to resist, so fashionable.
Too good to not buy it.
Ain’t no big deal – just next week’s rent!

Here’s another dress I tried on recently but didn’t end up buying (and I have been kicking myself ever since!) …
So do you think one of the big record companies will soon be knocking on my door?! That’d be one way to solve my little budget problem anyways! 😉
And should I make a music video to go with it?!
What a fun post!
Did I have you singing the song all day?!
So cool! You look great in both dresses btw!
Thanks Cathy! I was kinda hoping Rockmans would take pity on me and send it to me as a blogger freebie … oh well a girl can dream!!!
Lol. I love it!! And the dresses too 🙂
It was so much fun and literally just popped into my head!
How cute! You are so talented and strong! I would struggle to leave a dress in the shop if I looked that good in it!!
The thought of what the hubster would say was enough to persuade me to leave it in the shop 😉
I’m going to be humming this all day lol. And I’m still hoping you’ll find either one on clearance!
Oh yes, may the sale gods shine down on us both!
Yes! Music video Janet! I did like that dress a lot too.
Haha no chance Pinky dear … if you heard me singing it you’d know why …
I often ended up not buying dresses I like. Yes, living in real world and paying bill sucks. I need to win gold lotto!
I know, it’s so rude isn’t it!
