I Tried a Dress – and I Liked It!

I tried a dress and I liked it lyrics

I’ve had a few people wondering if I actually ended up buying this dress, after I shared a pic on social media a week or two ago.

Sadly – no. I had to leave it in the shop, much as I was tempted.

You see, like many people, we have a household budget. And although I do have a fair bit of freedom when it comes to adding to my wardrobe, it’s certainly not open slather. We live in the real world where paying bills and other boring things sometimes take priority.

It did however inspire me to write a little song about the experience! It goes to the tune of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl and I Liked It”

I Tried a Dress – and I Liked It!

This was never the way I planned, not my intention.
The supermarket seemed so dull, then I saw your mannequin
It’s not what I’m used to, it’s the very latest style.
Costs nothing, to try it, took it into the dressing room.

[Chorus:]
I tried a dress and I liked it,
Perfect fit, colour, style and print
I tried a dress – want to buy it,
Do you think my hubster will mind if
I bring it home,
The budget’s tight.
Don’t want to argue tonight.
I tried a dress and I liked it (I liked it).

No, I put that dress back on the rack, it doesn’t matter.
I have a wardrobe full of clothes, I’ll just look at ya.
I’ll take a pic and show him, his mouth will drop open
I know he’ll be so impressed, he’ll say “Go and buy that dress!”

[Chorus]

New dress – you are so magical,
Latest style, great fit and comfortable.
Hard to resist, so fashionable.
Too good to not buy it.
Ain’t no big deal – just next week’s rent!

Here’s another dress I tried on recently but didn’t end up buying (and I have been kicking myself ever since!) …

So do you think one of the big record companies will soon be knocking on my door?! That’d be one way to solve my little budget problem anyways! 😉

And should I make a music video to go with it?!
