It’s the Formal Countdown!

Janet Camilleri · 08/08/2013 ·

Earlier this year, I guest posted over at Styling You about finding the perfect formal dress.

Would you believe Miss 16 ended up choosing the very first dress that she tried on? Nothing else could compare. I’d love to tell you what it looks like, but I’m sworn to secrecy! 😉

It’s the Formal Countdown

The formal is in November, so the countdown is on. And believe me, finding the right dress is only the beginning!

formal gowns
Just some of the lovely gowns available at Sensual Couture in Cleveland.

We’ve given her boyfriend a swatch of the dress fabric so that he can organise a coordinating suit and tie.

We’ve booked the hair appointment, the manicure, bought the jewellery, and found a photographer for the pre-formal photos.

We still have to organise shoes, choose a hairstyle, and work out a car to get Miss 16 and her pals there in style. Decisions, decisions!

Miss 16's incredible makeup skills
A born makeup artist!

Miss 16 is now talking about a makeup artist, although I don’t think it’s really necessary.

As you can see in the photo, she’s very good at doing her own makeup, and is even thinking of beauty therapy or hairdressing next year. However her concern is that being such a special occasion, she will be nervous and might muck it up. Horrors!

Is there anything else that we’re forgetting?!

Formals are so exciting! It sounds like you’ve got it under control. I just needed to check – have you got the underwear to go with the dress? There’s nothing worse than a visible bra strap or panty line with a gorgeous evening gown.

    Cheers,
    Lynda.

Napoleon do make up for about $60 but you get to take home the same amount worth of product.. But I agree, she does a great job 🙂

Your daughter is so pretty! My son and daughter are both in Grade 12 but they will be attending two formals each as they have been invited by partners who attend all boys/girls schools. Two lots of suit hire, two lots of formal dress/makeup/hair blah blah blah! At least it will give me plenty to write about!

Oh wow! They wouldn’t consider wearing the same thing to both?!

I live in Brisbane, Australia, and I'm learning how to fashion a new life now that we have an empty nest - did somebody say "travel"?!
