I’ve Got a New Fur Baby!

Janet Camilleri · 06/08/2014 ·

Yes, I have a new Fur Baby and so I just had to spam you with lots of cute kitty photos!

You may have already met Fleur on my Instagram or Facebook accounts – we adopted her on the weekend, and I am so happy to have a new fur baby. We’ve even invented a new hashtag for her: #fleurbaby.

Fleur is 10 months old and has the sweetest, most affectionate nature which is helping to heal my heart after the tragic loss of my last kitty, Misty, in April. (Oh, and she won both the boys over in about 1/100000th of a second LOL.)

If you love kitties as much as I do, settle in and enjoy these pics from her first couple of days with us … and if you don’t, what are you doing here?! (Just jokes, you’re still very welcome!)

Just adorable. I’m secretly loving the cat that has decided to adopt our family. Shhh don’t tell the rest of the family, I’m not suppose to be a cat person. 🙂

She is! She’s the snuggliest cat I’ve ever had – and she hardly knows me – imagine when she thinks of me as her mummy!

Oh she is!! I’m a bit allergic – I came up in red welts under my chin when she cuddled up to me there yesterday – but I don’t care! (I also know from experience that this settles down with time).

Such a beautiful feline!! She looks exactly like a kitty born in my house in 1999, who later went on to give birth every 3 months to a lovely litter which added up to nearly 10 look alikes. I still see some of her descendants quaintly sitting around 🙂

Around the time Misty has passed, I had seen around 4 dead kitties in about 2 months & it had just broken my heart- one of them was a bony kitten. I guess this kind of grief can be understood only by people who love cats and no one else.

It’s heartbreaking. That’s why Miss Fleur will be a 100% indoor kitty – which is what she is used to from her foster home too.

That toy in the photo with the cat tower, we have that for our new kitty. She carries the mouse around in her mouth and the stick trails behind her. She brings it to us at bedtime, miowing. When we get up in the morning, she brings it from the bedroom to where we are. The previous kitty did the same thing with soft toys, every bedtime, every morning, for 15 years.. I like to think this is a message from the previous kitty trying to tell me she approves of the new one.

I had to go back to Kmart and buy 3x more sets of that same toy set, from past experience with previous kitty I knew this mouse would look very much the worse for wear and if there wasn’t a new one, kitteh would be upset!

So, 6 months go by, she pretty much beat it to the point that it has no white fur left. I thought it was time to get out a new one, but I did not think to take the old one away. She knotted them up and then carried the whole bundle around with her, the new mouse in her mouth, the old one, string, and two sticks dragging behind her. It took me 20 minutes to untangle them!

You can never replace the family members that you lose. A new family member really helped me to memorize those precious moments that I had with my old girl, to grieve for her, and to balance out the tears – yes there were many – with laughter at the antics of the new kitty.

Your Fleur is very cute. 🙂

Oh how cute is that story about your kitty claiming both the old and new toys! Thanks for the tip, she already adores her “mouse” and when she has finished playing, picks it up with her mouth and carries it to her “hidey hole” underneath hubby’s side of the bed. Although we’ve only had Fleur a few days, I’ve already noticed she gets very playful and gets out her mouse at around 6 o’clock every night!

I am not a cat lover at all, but Fleur does look very pretty. Dogs however are a different story – I absolutely adore them!
