My Kitty is really a Dog in Disguise

Janet Camilleri · 07/10/2014 ·

It’s been just over two months since we adopted our kitty, the adorable Miss Fleur. I think she’s settling in well, don’t you?

could this kitty really be a dog?

Except I’m beginning to think she is really a dog in disguise! Here are 5 reasons why:

1. She chews everything. That’s the paper in my printer in the picture, but she has also chewed cards, books, fingers, plants – AND the cord that plugs my iPhone into my computer – I’m always shooing her away from it.

confused kitty or dog in disguise

2. She plays fetch. Yes, really! I wouldn’t have believed it either til I saw it. Here’s video evidence:

3. She rolls over to beg for tummy rubs.

4. She follows me everywhere, just like a devoted dog.

5. She likes to have a good sniff of any new people that visit, just to make sure they’re alright.

All I know is she has quickly wiggled her way into our hearts – and with the hubster heading back off to work today after 5 months of long service leave, I’m mighty glad that Miss Fleur is around, not just for my daily dose of cute, but also because she will keep me company as I work 🙂 .

So what do you think – is she a confused kitty or dog in disguise?!

Haha…she sounds like Pebbles and Buttons…I always tell people they have an identity crisis! Buttons loves tummy rubs and will roll over for anyone to scratch his tummy. Pebbles is great at playing fetch. And they both follow me around everywhere. And like Fluer, Pebbles has chewed my paper too!

What would we do without our beautiful fur babies? 😉

Oh she is so cute Janet. What lovely company for you. Who needs a standoffish cat? Yours sounds perfect even if she does have an identity crisis 🙂

She is such a treasure. She came from a foster home where she was hand reared from 2 1/2 weeks old, I think that might be the reason behind her lovely personality.

So cute! I’ve seen many cats who think they are dogs. Way better than indifferent cats who think they own the joint!

Oh don’t worry she still thinks she owns the joint LOL, but she’s a heck of a lot of fun too (except for when she wants to play at 4.44am like she did this morning!)

She sounds like a cat I’d like to own! I’m a dog person through and through. 🙂

I just think she’s an awesome kitty! I am starting to think we should have got a cat instead of a puppy!!! Aaaaargh!! haha. She’s beautiful, and I’m sure you’ll be happy to have her for company when hubster goes back to work. How is he feeling about that after having 5 months off? Wow that is a long time! I struggle to go back to work after 10 days off LOL. x

They’re all jolly hard work when they’re little, which is why I’m glad we got a kitty that was nearly a year old – I still remember how much hard work it was with our last kitty when she was a baby. Hubster seems ok about work so far, he says he was ready, which is a miracle in itself 😉

Ha! We have a cat that was a lot like that when he was younger. Now he is 9 and too old and mature for any kind of dog like behaviour, but he is still not the average cat!
Fleur reminds me so much of a cat we had as a kid. She’s so beautiful.

Actually my first kitty was like Fleur too – she was even ginger!

My parents have a dog in disguise too lol! She even steals your shoes and chews them if you aren’t careful. Lucky they are cute hey!

Oh noes! She hasn’t gone for my shoes yet though she doesn’t mind a chew on my big toe occasionally, ha!

I’ve always thought Burmese cats are very doggy. Maybe she has some Burmese in her. She’s very pretty 🙂

Hi Janet, our cats do the same. At one house we rented many moons ago they had carpet tiles on a wall and we used to hang our cat of it.

LOL I can just see us doing that with Miss Fleur (not!)
