My mate Rachel at Redcliffe Style shared her tips on how to give the illusion of cool recently, so I thought I’d give it a try.
Here is a pic of me doing my very best to look cool:
Not quite sure if I’ve managed to pull it off … 😉
But, the experience did teach me a couple of things. In addition to Rachel’s tips, if you really want to look cool I would also recommend:
- Don’t look at the camera;
- And, add a filter for that moody, cool look.
Here’s me not doing so well at looking cool:
I’m not convinced I’m cut out for cool after all. I think I look younger in my normal smiley pictures, so maybe I’ll just stick with that …

Ha ha! Very funny Janet. I think I look the coolest when I am smiling because it seems to iron out all the wrinkles in my face! You can’t beat a lovely smile. 🙂
LOL love your style. I completely suck when it comes to photos of myself. I think I have the side look down pat though, given I’m trying to hide the fact that one side of my face has dropped.

Oh I think you look very cool!! I hate having photos taken of myself, I always look 20 kilos heavier!

I like the photos of me where I’m just happy in a moment. The candid stuff.
Everyone looks cooler when they smile. Some of those cat walk models look too silly for words when they get those dopey looks on their faces.
Pfft – cool – who needs that. Genuine smile wins me over every time

My friends and I tested this out a while back, and we liked smiling at the camera with sunglasses on – they cover the wrinkles!
Your smiley pictures are definitely more you! Most of my profile pictures are a tiny bit of a smile. I feel self conscious smiling (crazy how the brain works sometimes!) and so I don’t tend to break out in a big grin in photos.
