Morning Tea with Miss Fleur

Janet Camilleri · 20/11/2015 ·

Miss Fleur is a dainty little kitty with very ladylike ways, so it should probably come as no surprise that she particularly enjoys our morning tea ritual.

After visiting me for my morning wake up call,

and eating her breakfast, Miss Fleur likes to spend the morning hours soaking up the sun on our cat patio.

Meanwhile, I am hard at work at my desk in our home office usually by 9am.

But by about 10.30 or 11, I take a break for a cuppa. And I can guarantee that as soon as Miss Fleur hears the “click” of the kettle going on, she wanders in to rub up against my legs as I make my tea.

Fleur waits for a cup of tea

Once my cuppa is ready, I will usually take my morning tea out to the cat patio and sit down on the floor. Fleur is always very interested in whatever I’m eating, and enjoys sharing morning tea with me.

I’ve discovered she has a bit of a sweet tooth, as she enjoys bikkies (particularly anzac biscuits, she’s a good Aussie kitty!) and cake crumbs – although she is also very partial to chips. Not good for her waistline (or mine either) but so very very yummy 😉 !

We relax quietly together, just enjoying the company, and when I finish my cuppa I will often give her a bit of a brush before heading back to the computer for work …and am usually followed by a certain little ginger kitty cat, who promptly curls up at the window next to me, to stare out at the scenery or have a little cat nap.

snoozing in the sun

Yes, I’m a crazy cat lady, it’s true. I feel so lucky to be able to have my own business at home, so I can enjoy the ritual of morning tea with Miss Fleur!

Do you have a morning tea ritual where you work?! I’ll bet it’s not as cute as mine with Miss Fleur 😉 !

Much the same happens in our house. Ralphie and Fleur must be soul mates, I think. If I spend too long at the Mac or sewing I hear a sad meow at the door wanting attention or there’s a leap from the floor to right in front of my face demanding action. Days would be lonely without him.

Yes Fleur does that too – it’s such a loud and indignant meow too, like “why are you ignoring me!” and I’m like, “Well cat, you are the one that wandered off to your cat patio!”. Thank goodness for our fur babies hey 😉

I might be a middle aged woman, but that doesn't mean I've lost all interest in looking stylish! I love chocolate, chick lit, cruising holidays and the husbear - and not necessarily in that order wink. I live in Brisbane, Australia, and I'm learning how to fashion a new life now that we have an empty nest - did somebody say "travel"?!
