My First Impression of Him

Janet Camilleri · 14/02/2017 ·

I love a good love story … that’s probably why I’m addicted to “Married at First Sight” (don’t judge me, ‘k?!).

my first impression of him

Although I’ve previously shared with you how I met the hubster, my first impression of him was mostly of his sweet, shy smile.

If I had to sum it up in just ONE word – it would be “sweet”. Sickening I know, but spot on as it turns out – you’d be hard pressed to finder a sweeter man than my Bear.

I asked Miss 20 what her first impression was of her boyfriend of nearly four years. Although they’d seen each other around at high school, her first impression of him when properly introduced, was that he was he was “the funny one – everybody loved him, he was so friendly and made everyone laugh”.

She struggled to make it just one word but I think “welcoming” would be a good choice (you’ll have to let me know if you agree, Miss 20!)

good morning from Venice

First Impressions in Just One Word

I asked a few others to sum up in just one word, what their first impression was of their spouse or partner – and quickly discovered that Miss 20 wasn’t the only one that had trouble sticking to just one word …

My sister recalled that her husband made her think of “sunshine”, because he was so happy, friendly and easy going.

Johannaย thought her man was “charismatic”, because he was good looking and full of energy; while Kylie described her fella as “genuine”, as he wasn’t sleazy or trying too hard to pick her up.

When I asked my BFFย she was like: “Gah. You do realise that’s over 30 years ago?!” – before eventually deciding on “cute”.

Different generations used different words …ย Toni and Jess,ย both quite a bit younger than this middle aged mama and her best friend, both came up with “hot”!

I love Jo’s first impression of her husband, which was “home”, as she felt an amazing sense of home when she met her farmer.

my first impression of him

Two Words

Kathy’s first impression of her husband was of “blue eyes”; Tracy was attracted to her man’s “fabulous voice”. I wondered if they’d met at karaoke, and if he was singing or speaking, so just to clarify – it was his sexy speaking voice, like a radio announcer!

Victoria was attracted to a “bad boy” – they’ve now been married for around 25 years so I think it safe to say she tamed him!

Three Words

And the last word (or three) has to go to Renee, because she cracked me up: “not my type” … though once they started talking, things obviously changed!

Now it’s your turn! If you have a partner – what was your first impression of him; if not, choose another significant person in your life!

Linking up with Kylie Purtell for IBOT.

Yes Miss 20 was quite ticked when she heard it, she wished she’d thought of it for her BF!

If I had to describe hubby in one word from when I met him – funny. He made me laugh within minutes of meeting and still makes me laugh today.

It’s interesting to see that first impressions aren’t always right!

Hmm, I find it hard to remember as we knew each other when we were each married the first time, I think I thought he was grumpy, obviously that changed somewhere along the way, although I do remember thinking when we met years later that this couldn’t work. (our sons were friends by then) Great idea for a post!

Haha clearly your first impression was a bit off in this case!

The weird thing is that I have the WORST memory for just about everything (especially my 20s, which were a blur for various reasons) but I still vividly remember the very first time I met my other half. It’s like my brain already knew in advance – “Hey, this is an important moment. Remember it”. LOL.

I’m glad you remember! I was thinking it would be kinda sad if I didn’t remember actually meeting my honey husband … I treasure that memory.

This is a fantastic post Janet. When I met Jacob, I thought he had an odd sense of humour. And then I thought he reminded me of Hugh Grant and I was HUGE fan of Hugh Grant back then and well… the rest is history as they say. We’ve been together 16 years this year and married for 12 in April. ๐Ÿ™‚
