My Makeup Essentials

Janet Camilleri · 23/07/2013 ·

I don’t wear a lot of makeup, which makes it easy to be ready in 5 minutes flat, or to pack up my kit if I am going away.

As you will see, I’m also not particularly attached to any one brand.

My 10 Essential Makeup Items

  1. Natio Lip Glow No. 5
  2. BYS Volume and Lengthening Mascara in black
  3. Garnier BB Cream for combination to oily skin
  4. 2 Glo Natural Glamour Mineral Bronzer Loose Powder in Winter
  5. The latest addition – Maybelline’s Instant Age Rewind Treatment Concealer
  6. Rimmel Lycra Wear nail polish in 307 – Grape Sorbet
  7. Blush Brush – came with the Natural Glamour Bronzer
  8. And in the front, we have my favourite brush for applying the Natural Glamour – I’ve had it so long I have no idea when or where I got it. Needless to say it is washed regularly (though probably not regularly enough)!
  9. Rimmel blush in Pink Rose
  10. (Not in the photo) lip balm

It’s not often that I wear all of them at once – perhaps for church, or a special dinner or outing.

Working from home, I usually just wear a bit of lipstick or lip balm.

If I’m going out and about, I’ll wear the Natural Glamour, mascara, blush and lipstick.

The nail polish is great for my short stubby little nails, unlike dark colours, it doesn’t draw attention to their sad state after removing my gel nails. I just feel more “dressed” when I wear nail polish, y’know?!

The only item I keep in my handbag on a permanent basis is my lipstick, for touch ups on the run – unlike Miss 16, who keeps a whole makeup bag on her most of the time (even though she really doesn’t need ANY unlike her dear old mum. Oh the joys of youth!).

What are the essential items in your makeup kit? Do you carry all of them in your handbag, or only one or two favourites?

I just love my blush! I use a LancΓ΄me one and it is Subtil Rose Highlighter – it makes me look airbrushed! You can never under-estimate the power of blush or lip balm (coloured or course), for making you look youthful! I always carry coloured lip balm with me everywhere and I will have to try those BB creams! Are they good?
Thanks from this lover of makeup! πŸ˜€

Now that sounds like a great blusher!

I’m a BB cream convert, wear that instead of foundation. It’s great for evening out skin tones (blemishes too)!

Never carry make up anywhere – but fishermans friends on the other hand – never leave home without. So I look like cr#p and I perpetually have a cough.

Wow I can’t stand Fisherman’s Friend, I must have a woosy mouth but they burn like hell!

I’m like you Janet, I don’t carry make up. I wear make up only when I go out for dinner or evening. The only thing a like to wear is lipstick. I use to like something with a light colour but lately, I’ve been wearing red lipstick!

You have such lovely olive skin Rita, you don’t need makeup! I reckon you’d totally rock red lipstick, though I find it a bit bright on me.

I have about 5 lip goodies in my bag, but that is it, what does out the door on days I need make up, stays that way until I get home. LOVE my BB cream, don’t leave home without that on. Definately agree on the nailpolish too, except I tend to have clear gloss with a little glitter on my two pinkie fingers, that way the chips are not evident. My toes are always sporting something deep and bold in a hot pink or red. πŸ™‚

Yes I’m a big fan of having polished toenails too, although I don’t worry during Winter.

I always carry lipgloss and mints. I Don’t usually carry make up in my bag but Now that I’m getting older with kids, I might start packing a mini make up bag.

I don’t wear a lot of make up either Janet. If I’m going out I wear: foundation, mascara, a little bit of eyeliner and my fave lipstick. I tend to stick to lighter coloured lipsticks these days. Dark or bright lipsticks are no longer flattering on me. I have two foundations. One for casual day wear (Garnier BB – like you) and one for going somewhere special or evening wear (better coverage). I also have an assortment of brands and am not a devotee to one particular brand (except for my favourite foundation). Min xo

After wearing makeup for so long for work, I love not wearing any now that I work from home. I wear it when I’m going out, mainly BB, mascara and a pale lip. x

I had some serious fails with makeup as a teenager – as in putting it on with a trowel is never a good look …

My essential items are eye liner, lip gloss and a SPF tinted moisturiser. That’s the bare essentials. When I’m going somewhere though, I often had colour in the form of funky eye shadows. The crazier the better πŸ™‚

I haven’t worn eye shadow for years. Not sure why – laziness? Or maybe it draws attention to the part of my face that is start to show it’s age??!

I don’t do much make up either. In fact I am not sure I even have 10 makeup essentialls!

LOL I was surprised I had that many! Does nail polish really count as makeup?!
