My Old Faithful Jumper

Janet Camilleri · 28/05/2013 ·

What is the oldest item that you have in your wardrobe that you still actually wear?

For me, Old Faithful is a cream fleecy cardigan, which I’ve had for about 20 years. I bought it while grocery shopping, from Woolies I think. Here’s a photo of me wearing it when Mr 19 was just a tot.

my old faithful cardigan

I must confess it is more greige than cream these days (the cuffs in particular are very grubby!), but it is just SO soft and comfy it is the first jumper I pull on when it gets a bit cool. Only when I’m at home though – it’s not fit for public viewing anymore. Mind you these days I have to fight Miss 16 for it as she also has taken a bit of a shine to it!

What item wins the title of “Old Faithful” in YOUR wardrobe?!

OMG – that photo is so familiar! Well not so much you and bubs but the hanging plant, the decor, the phone on the wall, what you’re wearing, what bubs is wearing … all a step back in time to an era that is so familiar to me! I’ve got a couple of old faithful sloppy joes – for wearing around the house ONLY 😉 Min xo

Glad to know I’m not the only one that’s a bit of a dag at home 🙂

Isn’t it funny when you have something that just makes you so comfy? I have a flannelette nightshirt that John bought me for my first Mother’s Day and it’s way too cosy to throw out.
    See you tomorrow!! xx

I just put my boots in to be resoled, and the boot maker asked me how long I’d had them. 25 years! They are so comfy, and well made. They didn’t cost the earth either. I love the photo of you and your son, that pop up car toy in the background bought back memories for me, my daughter had the same thing!
    xx

I have a great pair of boots and am planning to get them re-soled, pronto! Mind you I’ve only had them about 5 years … short term compared to yours!

Now that is getting your monies worth! I just loving finding an item of clothing that I just love so much, I often go and buy a second or third one too! I have a few dresses from years back. Also hubby has a 15 year old jumper that he still wears, it has lots of memories as we bought it together in Melbourne during our very first holiday together (to Tassie no less, and now we live there!) #teamIBOT

Yes hubster has a lot more “long term residents” in his wardrobe than I do – must be a boy thing 😉

I don’t own anything that I’ve had for that long. I do however have a few comfy clothes that are not for public viewing, a blue windcheater that has seen better days, but is great for cold nights, I wear it to bed quite a lot. I always get rid of something when I do a big clothes shop, mainly to make room in the cupboards, but this one seems to stick around 🙂

I have some trakkie daks that are approx 20 odd years old – so comfy – probably not so warm anymore as I think they are a little threadbare !!!!
I do also have a no longer ‘white’ jumper (very similar to yours) that I bought years before we came to Australia – it sits on the back on my chair at work for those times when the aircon just gets a little too chilly !!!! It doesnt’ look the best but given there is only 2 of us in the office and the two directors, nobody is fussed – LOL. It’s all about being warm when I wear it.
    Have the best day !

I try and clean out my wardrobe every few months, so nothing gets the chance to be an old faithful – but my mum has a red cardigan she adores, wears only at home and refuses to part with !

Love the cardy! I have a red dress that I’ve had for about 14 years. These days it only comes out at home on very hot days. I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I can’t chuck it out…

My oldest is a threadbare t shirt from an Indonesian missing trip13 years ago. I rarely wear it, but pull it out occasionally to wear to bed 🙂
