Now we’re heading into Summer and with all the gorgeous warm weather, hubster and I have been spending a bit of time at the beach on the weekends.
However I must confess I was a little bit shocked on our last trip.
We were sitting near a beach shower, when a family came up to use it.
Nothing too shocking about that right?
The mother then proceeded to strip off her two little girls.
Big deal ... I hear you think. Parents wash their nude babies and toddlers under beach showers, or let them go swimming in the raw, all the time. And nobody bats an eyelid.
Except these two girls weren’t really all that little.
How Old is too Old for Nudies at the Beach?
In fact I would hazard a guess that the older one was maybe eight, nine or even ten? That’s her on the right in this photo …
Even the littler one (next to her) is too old in my opinion.
It just seemed really wrong to me. (Or maybe I’m the creepy one for taking a pic of the family – at least I waited until they were dressed!)
What age do you think of as “too old” for kids to be nudies at the beach?!

Hmm…Anyone over the age of 12 months? I don’t know. I long for a society where it’s ok to be in your skin at the beach whatever age you are (not that I’ve ever done it). I just get worried for kids these days, that’s all. When I was a kiddo I went topless at the beach and river until maybe….10……? But that was in country Victoria in the 70’s which was an entirely different world back then.
Hope the kiddos were ok about being in the nuddy in public….

Hmm it’s a tricky one I wouldn’t be because of my perception there’s lots of creeps around but then again that’s a bit harsh sounding isn’t it! I’m more concerned about the sun safe factor, I put so much stuff on my kids as shit scared of them getting sunburnt!
There are so many perverts around, I felt sorry for the kids, I’ll bet they were embarrassed.
I tend to agree with you, too old. My girls wouldn’t have been happy to go naked in public at that age.
Absolutely Raych. I can understand when they are little enough to still wear nappies but after that? It’s a big NO from me.
I think it’s sad that we have to even worry about that stuff, but like you, I think that once nappies are no longer an issue, it’s probably better to find a private place to change.
My five year is getting self conscience in public now, I can’t see her being happy about stripping down for a public shower like this. I’d be worried about who was watching too.
I tend to agree with the other commenters here. My girls are 4 and 9 and I consider them too old to be naked in public now, for all of the reasons already mentioned. BTW, sorry about not coming by sooner – I’ve had a shocker of a week…
