Our Cat is a TV Junkie

Janet Camilleri · 08/01/2016 ·

We have decided that our cat is a TV junkie.

precious kitty

There are times when she gazes at the TV in a way that none of my previous cats ever did, and we could swear she is watching the program along with us. Other times, she pauses at the end of our bed, fascinated by the television screen!

TV

Mind you, our last cat, Misty, used to love the RSPCA ads – you know, the ones with a random selection of animals trotting across the screen to the tune of “All Things Bright and Beautiful”. She even jumped up to look behind the television to see where the animals were!

But I digress … it seems Miss Fleur has taken her TV watching habits to an entirely new level.

Could a Ghost have Turned on the TV?!

We were awakened bright and early one morning on the holidays (about 6am – how rude!) by the noise of the TV in the family room. I got up to chastise Mr 21 (he keeps all sorts of weird hours) and tell him to turn it down, but he was nowhere to be seen. Could a ghost have turned on our TV?!

Miss Fleur looked up from her position relaxing on the couch, where she looked for all the world as if she was watching a bit of telly, if you please (much like in the pic below).

I hunted for the remote to turn it off, and couldn’t find it for ages … until I noticed something peeking out from under Miss Fleur’s belly. The TV remote! When she’d sat on it, she’d obviously turned the television on and continued to lay quite happily there, watching the flickering images, until I got up.

more TV

We have always known that Miss Fleur is a very special princess kitty, but now there is absolutely no doubt in our minds that our cat is a TV junkie!

If you have a pet – whether cat, dog, cockatiel or guinea pig – do they ever watch TV?!

One of my cats can turn the electric blankets on. 😉

Most of the time when I am watching TV I have my cordless headset on, so the cats can’t hear the sound. That kind of inhibits their watching abilities, lol! 😉

    Well done Miss Fleur!

Clever moggies indeed. We don’t have an electric blanket but if we did, I’m sure Miss Fleur would just looooove that too!

Smart Miss Fleur! When we watch a movie, Sasha snuggles in her bed facing the TV too! I think she likes the shapes. Hasn’t turned it on yet though!

I wonder how much they actually see?!

I live in Brisbane, Australia, and I'm learning how to fashion a new life now that we have an empty nest - did somebody say "travel"?!
