Our Cupcake Icing Adventures

Janet Camilleri · 14/10/2016 ·

Miss 19 had the day off work yesterday so we decided to make cupcakes.

Oh, and in case you missed it on Facebook – there has been big excitement this week for the Middle Aged family. Our girl has just landed a new job as a legal secretary in the city, and will be starting in just over a week’s time.

Although I’m happy for her, and thrilled to bits, I can’t help being a bit sad as this means I won’t get to see as much of her. One of the benefits of working in hospitality was that she had very flexible hours, so would often come over and just hang with me. I’m going to miss her!

Anyways, when it came time to ice our cupcakes, things got just a little bit silly …

I thought I was being clever, by snipping the corner off a freezer bag to try and pipe out the icing. The results weren’t quite what I was after …

Precious times together, what will I do without my Puddleduck Baby popping in regularly.

We had a good giggle over our cupcake icing adventures, hope you do too – it is Fri-YAY after all!

LOL thanks Liz. Miss 19 put these on her Snapchat but I thought it was funny so got her to send the videos to me so my friends and followers could also have a laugh!

Hahaha at least it was a great bonding exercise! If it had gone perfectly, you would have had less laughs with your girl! Congrats to her on her new job!
PS. I use a zip lock bag and cut the corner out…the bag keeps its shape a little easier than a freezer bag ??
PPS. I hope you ate all the evidence – nobody had to know haha x

Those question marks were supposed to be cute emoji but now I just look like a dick (they were a wink and a cry laughing one by the way haha)

Oh don’t you just hate that when emoji don’t work! And I didn’t have any ziplock bags so thought the freezer bag would make a good substitute – ummm, NO!

I went to an author talk a couple of years ago (William McInnes the actor and author) who had released a book about holidays.

He commented that the holidays he most remembered were those when things went wrong! I suspect it’s the same here. You’ll never remember the perfectly iced cakes, but the experience of those that didn’t work…. quite so well! 🙂

Meet the Middle Aged Mama

Janet Camilleri is an Australian bloggerHi - I'm Janet Camilleri aka the Middle Aged Mama; crazy cat lady, award-winning business woman, and mother of two grown children. I might be a middle aged woman, but that doesn't mean I've lost all interest in looking stylish! I love chocolate, chick lit, cruising holidays and the husbear - and not necessarily in that order wink. I live in Brisbane, Australia, and I'm learning how to fashion a new life now that we have an empty nest - did somebody say "travel"?!
