Picking a Winner

Janet Camilleri · 14/12/2015 ·

Over the weekend, I had a gruelling task to complete: picking a winner from my Christmas comp, to receive $100 to spend at Crazy Sales.

Picking a Winner

This is NOT what I meant by picking a winner …

Actually, I Must Confess: it wasn’t that gruelling πŸ˜‰ . In fact it was quite a lot of fun!

We had to choose the most creative answer to the question: What are you thinking of getting your man (or any middle aged man in your life) for Christmas?!

In the interests of fair play, I copied all the entries into a Word document, and asked Mr 21 to delete all names so that I wouldn’t be biased in my judging.

He then printed it out, and the stringent scoring process began … there were so many great answers, but did they meet the criteria of being “creative” – which is a very subjective word, when you think about it!

I then read out the entries to Mr 21 and the hubster, for their votes. Of course the hubster gave high marks to anybody that suggested a tool chest, dash cam or remote control anything, because they are all on his Christmas wishlist.

Finally, we arrived at an unanimous decision …

Congratulations to Caroline Raj, who wrote:

“Oh I find it so so hard to buy for my man and thank you for such great ideas. However I think this year I’m going to keep it simple and do some sort of crafty photo collage of the family that he can put in his office (haha perhaps that might make him come home earlier at the end of the day???)”

Exhausted businessman

Our winner is helping her man with work-life balance!

Apart from being a creative idea, I had to laugh at her hope that it would motivate her man to come home earlier … Caroline I have one of those husbands too, so I feel your pain only too well!

An honourable mention however has to go to Maria Pennisi, for her entry which had us all in stitches:

“He wants me to get a boob job. Ha, that’s not going to happen so I’m getting him a voucher for an enlargement of his you-know-what. That will shut him up!”

Special thanks to all who entered, I wish I could send you all a prize!

Who knew that picking a winner could be so much fun?!

Well done! I also struggle picking winners for competitions which means that I always take ages to make up my mind and constantly have people getting in touch with me to see what’s going on!

I usually prefer Rafflecopter comps for this reason but the client specified that the most creative answer should win πŸ˜‰

Now that was a very fair way to judge a competition Janet! Great choices too πŸ™‚

I pick winners in a similar way!! I do see them all and have an idea of what I think is most creative but second opinions with names removed really helps with any bias.
