Pregnant Pause …

(or how maternity fashions have changed over the past 20 years …)

I am loving how Recycled Fashion, Absolute Amy, Yellow Dandy, A Study in Contradictions, and a number of other bloggers are sharing their maternity style at the moment.

The baby making days are long gone for me – my firstborn has just turned 19, my second is now in Year 12. How the years fly by!

So I thought you might get a chuckle over what passed for maternity style in the 1990’s …

Four months pregnant, rocking my hubster’s elastic waist shorts and a men’s t-shirt.
At work, about 5 months along. I made this dress myself – and don’t you just love the hair scrunchie? I heard they’re coming back in!
Last holiday pre-baby. Miss 16 thinks this is a very interesting choice of swimsuit and that I should burn this photo ASAP.
Bulging out all over in this bikini from my pre-pregnancy days, on that same holiday …
And again … Miss 16 is horrified by the thongs, the cap and even the dress! I thought I looked very holiday-ish and cool … at the time anyways …
Last day at work, 34 weeks pregnant. I’m wearing my favourite outfit from my maternity wardrobe, a dress by Addable, a label that was all the rage at the time with women whether they were expecting or not!
Fast forward 2 1/2 years and I’m about 8 months pregnant with Number 2, while holding Number 1’s hand. Another black baggy tent dress …
I pretty much lived in this cream tube skirt during my second pregnancy. It wasn’t a maternity number but stretched as I did (just like me, it never fully recovered afterwards either).

So what was your maternity style like?!
