Sacked By My Hairdresser!

I couldn’t believe my ears when my friend exclaimed: “I’ve been sacked by my hairdresser!”

It usually goes the other way, although we might not put it quite so bluntly …

Have You Sacked A Hairdresser?

Hairdressers – we may not be 100% faithful to them, but when we find a good one, we tend to stick with them.

There are a few things which might prompt us to “sack” our hairdresser after years of loyalty; price rises and a change of staff are the most common reasons.

I Must Confess: I decided to sack my hairdresser when I noticed the customer service standards had dropped.

For example, the salon promised a complimentary “five minute scalp massage” for clients during the shampoo, something I really looked forward. It made a necessary evil – finding the time to get a hair cut – feel luxurious and pampering.

However, towards the end, I was lucky if it lasted 30 seconds. As a long term, faithful customer, I felt taken for granted.

Then I discovered my favourite hairdresser was back in town, and there was much rejoicing! The delightful Donna comes to our home, and her prices are very affordable. So my story has a happy ending 🙂 .

But have you ever heard of a client being sacked by a hairdresser?!

It seems my friend’s salon had a change in direction, from a friendly local salon, to one aimed at a more upwardly mobile, young, and cashed up, clientele. Prices rose, the decor was changed, and suddenly there was no longer time to fit in long-standing (mature?!) clients who wanted “just a trim”. Unless the appointment included a colour, extensions, foils, or some other expensive treatment, you could forget it!

No wonder my friend felt quite justified in saying: I’ve been sacked by my hairdresser!

(Don’t worry dear reader, I didn’t leave my friend in the lurch – I’ve introduced her to the delightful Donna 🙂 .)

Have you ever been “encouraged” to go elsewhere by a hairdresser?!
