Shelf Style: Steph from Stephs Joy

Janet Camilleri · 20/03/2015 ·

A couple of weeks ago we saw our iconic Ikea shelves in a baby girl’s room (courtesy of Bec at The Plumbette); this week check out how awesome they are in a preschool boy’s room!

I met Steph from Stephs Joy at my first ProBlogger event on the Gold Coast in 2013 – and straight away was drawn to her happy, smiling face. She truly is a joy to be around, so her blog has a very fitting name! Here we are sharing a bit of a laugh …

What room are your shelves in?

The shelves reside in my boy’s bedroom, he’s almost 5 soon!

How long have you had them?

We bought these shelves to set up my little boy’s room about 4 years ago.

What do you store in the drawers/cupboards?

On these shelves live my boy’s toys and large book collection (MAM: love that you have lots of books!).

We use the Ikea clear storage drawers on the bottom shelf. One is the dress up drawer, two contain toys, and another is a musical drawer.

What is your favourite decorator item on your shelves and why?

I love the photo of my boy when he was about one, that sits on the top of the shelves. The other is the leather airplane bookend that was given to him from dear relatives.

How often do you change the “look” of your shelves?

We don’t really change the look much. Once a year, I give it a good dust off and extract the things he no longer uses.

I love the Ikea shelves in a kid’s bedroom – they’re so practical and great for keeping all those toys, books and other assorted paraphernalia, semi-organised! Wish I’d had some when our kids were small.

Share your Ikea Shelf StyleIt’s Your Turn!

If you have a set of Ikea shelves (or another brand) in your home – why not join in the fun? I’d love to feature yours in an upcoming blog post! All you have to do is snap some pics and answer the same five questions as Steph has above, and send to [email protected].

I’m particularly on the lookout for shelves in the laundry, kitchen, dining room or bathroom for future #shelfstyle posts – can you help or can you dob somebody in?!

I love these shelves, they really do look great everywhere, and they’re versatile with the optional accessories. We have so many shelves in our house.

What a great idea for a series of posts! I love theIKEA Expedit shelves – I’ve owned several sets of them over several houses. Currently I just have a 2 X 4 set in the study.
They are so useful in a kid’s room – I love the way Steph has used them – it links a lot of disperate elements (which kids’ bedrooms are always full of) into one cohesive item.
