Kudos must go to the hubster for this one – it’s a recipe that he invented!
I find that casseroles made in the slow cooker always taste the same, and can be kinda bland and boring. Well, not this one!
Ingredients
- 1.5kg beef (because you’re slow cooking, you can get away with a cheap cut like chuck steak)
- good squirt of tomato sauce
- 1 pkt French Onion soup mix in 1/3 cup cold water
- 1 tin Ayam Satay mix
- 1 heaped tablespoon peanut butter
Method
- Cube beef.
- Put all ingredients in crockpot except for Satay mix and peanut butter.
- Cook on low heat all day.
- When you get home from work or around 5pm, add the Satay mix and peanut butter, and stir.
- Serve with rice and vegies.
It’s a great Winter warmer recipe, and easy to boot. Feeds our family of 4 (me, hubster, Mr 19 next month, Miss 16), with enough leftovers for at least one lunch the next day. Hope your family enjoys it as much as mine does!

That sounds so yummy! Have not heard of that satay sauce, might have to check it out and give it a crack, especially as it’s starting to cool down around here!
Janet says
You should find it with the Asian foods in your supermarket π

Sounds yummy and easy to make. My younger two boys probably wouldn’t eat it though, the fussy buggers. Oh well too bad for them, they can dig for worms. It sounds good, so I think I’ll give it a go.
Janet says
LOL that’s the spirit Ness!

Hi, thanks for sharing. A couple of questions … why didn’t you put the satay sauce in at the start? Did it need coconut cream/milk at all? Thanks π
Janet says
Hi Sharon, no coconut cream of milk needed but that would probably be a lovely addition. And – no idea about the satay sauce! It is hubster’s recipe so I will have to ask him!
