Smart Cats Read Pussweek Magazine

Janet Camilleri · 12/10/2015 ·

Miss Fleur is one very smart kitty.

Fleur is a very smart kitty
Everybody knows wearing glasses makes you smarter

She likes to play fetch; she’s written a blog post, and recently, she won a competition on Instagram with this pic of her reading (should we tell her the book is upside down?!)

Fleur’s so clever she prefers to read her books upside down

And now she’s at it again …

Pussweek Magazine – FOR kitties, BY kitties!

Dear Reader,

When I first heard about Pussweek magazine I couldn’t believe my ears. A magazine FOR kitties, BY kitties?

Pussweek Magazine for kitties
What’s that you say? A magazine for kitties?!

To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to think. But it smelled alright, and tasted alright, so I decided to settle down for a read …

Pussweek magazine pics

Well let me say first off, that it sure beats Mama’s tasted in reading. Stoopid chick lit. Why anybody would want to read about chickens is beyond me.

There were a lot more pretty pictures too, but don’t be fooled: Pussweek magazine covered the serious issues for the more discerning kitties. My mind was greatly improved by the article on plastic bag addiction, and I found some new ideas in the piece on 20 purr-fect hiding spots.

For current affairs, there was an international repawt on the cat cafe movement. (In fact, Mama went to one last week. I’m still not talking to her. Although I agree with them in principle, and think it is a lovely way for kitties to find their furever homes – WHY did Mama need to go? She’s already got me. Humph.)

If health, beauty and fitness is more your thing, there was a kitty’s guide to extreme sports (my picks: wall staring and monorailing).

I think they should have included cat climbing in the extreme sports feature

No glossy mag is complete without celebrities, and lots of ’em. On the “Pawparazzi” pages, there was pictorial evidence of Peaches (engaged to Pushkin!) and Gunnar getting way too cosy. Oh, and I might have developed a slight crush on the dashing Felix after seeing him practising his dance moves … meow!

I’m ready for the pawparazzi – this is my “NO PHOTOS PLEASE” pose

There were some tall tail tales, and a fun quiz about which window sill is best for your body type. OMG they must be psychic, because they got it JUST RIGHT. How can I argue with the verdict:

“You’re the type of cat who will look good on any ledge and
no matter what style you choose, you’ll rock it.”

It was enough to have me licking my paw smugly.

The only problem I have with Pussweek magazine, is that Mama kept pinching it and snorting with laughter as she turned each page. Just because I regularly loll (as in lie, not laugh out loud) all over HER reading matter, or chew the pages, doesn’t mean she can read mine. Mama says she can’t believe there are other people in the world as mad as her. I have to say, I agree.

Oh, and I just can’t WAIT for the next issue to be ready – it’s the GINGER ISSUE PEOPLE!!!!!

Love,

Miss Fleur xxx

Hilarious. We’ve just had an awful weekend with our newly adopted cat. The old owners let him roam and he was attacked and now has a pretty nasty infection. If the meds don’t start to work he needs a small procedure under general on Thursday. I’m currently nursing him and trying to turn him into a purely indoor cat after 8 years of come and go as he pleases.

Hi Raych, hope your gorgeous kitty is feeling better soon. It can be a challenge to turn a veteran outdoors moggy into an indoor one; a fully enclosed cat patio / outdoor area would be a must. Because Miss Fleur has always been an indoor kitty, although she lingers around open doors (has to know what’s going on!) she never sets a paw outside. Our previous cat was a wanderer, as soon as a door opened we had to hold her back. No wonder she got skittled by a car 🙁 . Good luck with converting your kitty!
