The 7 Day Denim Challenge

The 7 Day Denim Challenge all started when I posted this pic on Instagram a couple of weeks back, linking up with Styling You to show off my #everydaystyle.

Day 1 of the Denim Challenge

Wearing Kmart black leggings ($8) and white tank ($6), thrifted Joanne Mercer boots, thrifted necklace, and for the denim: Just Jeans chambray shirt purchased last Winter.

It proved colder than expected so I ended up adding a leather jacket (Target, $48 in the sales last year) for warmth!

I’ve enjoyed seeing and sometimes participating in other bloggers’ style challenges, and so I got thinking … Could I? Should I? Would I?

And so, the great Middle Aged Mama “7 day denim challenge” was born.

Truthfully – I knew it WOULD be a bit of a challenge, and take me out of my comfort zone, as I only own about 4 denim pieces in total!

What I wasn’t expecting, was that a lingering cold and an eye that swelled completely shut, would make it even more challenging … I mean who feels like dressing up when they’re sick?!

I also didn’t count on the hubster (who is on Long Service Leave) deciding that it would be the perfect time to give our walk-in wardrobe a bit of a reno – meaning that I couldn’t even find half of my clothes!

But I persevered (guess that’s a passion for ya!), and just in case you missed it on Facebook or Instagram, here’s how it all panned out!

Day 2

Flower jumper (thrifted), white Kmart tank ($6) & scarf ($3), Rivers ankle boots, and my favourite Just Jeans second skin jeans (purchased last Winter).

Day 3

Katies white shirt (about $12 in the end of Summer sales), Crossroads red vest (so old I don’t remember cost or when purchased), thrifted Joanne Mercer boots, and the denim component is my Sussan skirt (about $70 purchased earlier this year).

Day 4

Thrifted long sleeve black t (Harry Potter), Sussan leopard print leggings (purchased at the same time as the skirt, also about $70), those boots again, and the scarf is courtesy of Miss 17. My denim jacket is about 8 years old, from Crossroads.

As it turned out, I also managed to join another style challenge: the Style It Project with Kimba Likes and Redcliffe Style. This month the challenge is to style one piece (a black long sleeve tee) in my own way/s. I already have several of these in my wardrobe so it was easy to combine challenges: check out my Day 4 & Day 5 photos!

Day 5

Now this is an outfit I’ve never put together before! Another black long sleeved t (Rockmans, about 5 years old), current season Best & Less top (about $15), those Joanne Mercer bargain boots again, necklace I think was $2 from Big W a couple of years back, and my fave Just Jeans jeans.

Day 6

Wearing my hair over my eye so you can’t see it’s swollen shut from my cold or an allergy (even the doctor didn’t know for certain). Wearing the same Just Jeans chambray shirt from Day 1, a chunky black cross necklace, and black Just Jeans second skin jeans, with black ballet flats. The jeans are looking a bit baggy, can you tell I’ve lost a little weight?!

Day 7

Last day – hooray! Black cotton on dress was $20 this Summer; Crossroads jacket again, Lovisa bargain necklace ($5), Kmart nude court shoes, my everyday Kate Hill bag (was about $40 from DFO last year).

Despite the sudden and unexpected chilly weather, and feeling sick as a dog all week, I’m really proud of how I managed to look fab thanks to my 7 day denim challenge!

Which one is your favourite? Is this a style challenge you’d like to try? If so, let me know, I’d love to follow your version of the 7 Day Denim Challenge!
