The Power of a Daily Dose of Cute

Janet Camilleri · 20/04/2016 ·

Whether it’s cats, puppies, koalas, babies, penguins or pandas – seems none of us can resist the power of a daily dose of cute.

daily dose of cuteThere was plenty of cute when we visited Australia Zoo last week!

It’s common knowledge that cute images and videos are hugely popular on the internet.

There is no such thing as too much cute 🙂 . We just can’t seem to get enough!

But in the words of Professor Julius Sumner Miller: Why is it so?!

Personally, I’ve been a firm believer in the power of a daily dose of a cute for a long time. (At least that’s my excuse – and I’m sticking to it! – for sharing a million and one pics of Miss Fleur here and on social media 😉 .)

I know that looking at anything cute helps me to not only smile, feel happier and more positive, but it also helps to keep any feelings of depression at bay. It’s a great stress-buster!

The Evidence on the Power of Cute

It’s a great theory, and as it turns out I’m right (hubster will be rolling his eyes!) – as now there is evidence that a daily dose of cute, really is good for us, in so many ways!

Viewing cute images, watching cute videos, playing with cute babies (human or animal) – according to one study, a daily dose of cute not only improves our mood and helps to lift depression, but it also increases productivity. Apparently, it even boosts our ability to pay attention to detail, resulting in greater focus and accuracy!

So next time you get sprung watching a cute cat video at work, just tell your boss that you are simply harnessing the power of a daily dose of cute – and your work will only benefit from it!

Still not convinced? Here’s a really cute kitty video, guaranteed to not only lower your stress levels, but also make you smile …

What’s your “go-to” when you are looking for a daily dose of cute?

I’ll go with that theory Janet 🙂 My daily dose of cute is the birdlife on the lake especially when the swans have babies, but the ducks are always cute. I also like sitting with my girl watching crazy videos of cute kittens and the like!

Yes the love of a daily dose of cute is something I definitely enjoy sharing with my own girl too 🙂

I’m finding it really odd saying this because you know I’m only new on the scene as far as crazy cat bloggers go but I go to the Cat Haven website and look through the cats that are needing adoption. If I’m over that way, I try and pop in.

Welcome to the club Raychael 🙂 . We toy with the idea of giving Miss Fleur a brother or sister but to be honest I think she enjoys being bit of a Diva Kitty.

Definitely cat videos or even just rescue websites to look at all the cats up for adoption. Also, I’ll pop over to my local Pet Barn where they have RSPCA cats up for adoption and play with them for a bit. So therapeutic!

I meant to also tell you — love the cat lady blogger logo! So cute! 🙂

Also, did you know? Pebbles and Buttons have an IG account. They’d love Miss Fleur to follow them on @Pebbles_and_Buttons

I used to love visiting the site http://icanhascheezburger.com but it’s gone a bit commercial and cluttered with rubbish over the years.

You are soooo right. Whenever I’m feeling down I’m drawn to time-wasting videos of animals on my FB feed. I just can’t resist. Cats make me laugh every time. Apparently the people across the road from us have koalas in the backyard. I’ve never seen a koala in the wild. They are definitely cute 🙂

We used to get koalas in our yard all the time at our last house! They look cute, but not so cute when they poop on you (true story) or when they are grunting late at night!
