I must confess … I’ve actually seen a UFO.
It was several years ago now – early 2000’s perhaps? The hubster and I were walking outside the Cleveland Library building in the early evening – around 7 or 7.3opm. I suspect we’d just been to the library, which is open until 7.30pm on Wednesday and Thursday nights; when all of a sudden we noticed a peculiar object in the night sky above us.
It was too dark to really see the object but we could see white flashing lights on it, and it just seemed to be hovering above us. It didn’t seem too far above us either – maybe 100 or 200 metres?
There was no noise at all; as we watched, it zipped off to the east at great speed and disappeared. It didn’t move like any aircraft we’d ever seen before!
We had no idea what it was but it certainly had us intrigued. We rang the Amberley Air Force Base, and they said they’d had several other calls from the area about it. They didn’t seem to know what it was either.
I’ve scoured the internet and so far haven’t been able to find any reported sightings that match “our” UFO. If you are interested in finding out about other UFO sightings, UFO Info and also UFO Research Qld list a number of eyewitness acounts and reports from the last ten or fifteen years.
All these years later I still don’t know what to think!
Have you ever seen a UFO?
It’s Monday, so I’m joining up with Kirsty from My Home Truths for I MUST CONFESS, and Alicia at One Mother Hen for the OPEN SLATHER blog link ups
DON’T FORGET to enter our competition to win a family pass to Room on the Broom, at Redlands Performing Arts Centre! Closing midnight this Saturday 30 March.
Can’t say I have had the experience. What intrigues me is that it is unexplained what people have seen. What was it then? Cleveland bay looks gorgeous at night by the way.
I’m sure there is a perfectly rational explanation for it … but I don’t know what it is!
Well that is pretty awesome to have seen a UFO! How freaky that other people saw it too. It would be interesting to find out what it really is.
I know! Every now and then I remember and wonder about it all over again.
I think I would have been totally freaked out by that Janet! I wonder if you will ever know exactly what it was? Thanks so much again for linking up – I really do appreciate it!
It happened so quickly and I guess because it was silent it didn’t seem scary – and I was with the hubster 😉
Ooo that is awesome, I think years ago I saw something I couldn’t explain, but I might have been drunk – does that still count! Great pic BTW – gorgeous! xxx Em
You Em? Drunk? Surely not 😉
That is all pretty exciting Janet. I have seen a few strange things float by here as well, but never enough to make me say with certainty that it was a UFO
I really wish we’d written down our account at the time and that I knew WHEN it happened!
There is a great book around (unfortunately it seems it is now “on permanent loan” to an ex-friend…I bought it from the Creative Science people who send out some excellent magazines (copies of those available at the Cleveland Library)..I think it was called “Alien Intrusion” You could try getting a hold of it. Extremely informative.
I’ll have to track it down Barb! Thanks for the tip!
Very intruiging story. I guess you just never know what could really be ‘out there’, maybe what you saw really was a UFO. Spooky.
I guess it will remain one of life’s little mysteries …
I now have the X Files song in my head. That would have freaked me out.
Looking forward to linking up again next week.
Oooo I loved the X Files!
Thought I saw a UFO once – worked out it was skylab that landed in Esperance.
Oh wow how cool!
Plus side other people saw it too so you know it was definately there! One day I’m sure we’ll understand whats out there better
LOL too true – good to know we weren’t imagining things!
