Kidspot Voices of 2015: Is it Okay to Nominate Yourself?

Emily at Have a Laugh On Me started the discussion over on her blog: is it okay to nominate yourself for the Kidspot Voices of 2015?

Each year, the Kidspot website runs a competition to decide the top bloggers in Australia.

Emily confessed that this year, no, she probably won’t. Of couse she is secretly hoping a reader will nominate her … pretty sure she has that in the bag 😉 !

I must confess, it got me to thinking … there shouldn’t be a stigma attached to nominating yourself.

3 Reasons Why It’s Okay to Nominate Yourself

1. You’ve got to be in it to win it. Sure, you could cross your fingers and hope somebody else will nominate you (which is what I did last year, and was totally stoked when somebody did!) – but why take the risk?

2. It’s FREE! Unlike many writing/photography competitions, it’s free to enter!

3. It’s how things are done in the business world. In my previous workplaces, it was standard practice to nominate your department or project for awards. Who better to know what it was all about, the goals, the planning, the strategies, the end results? When I worked in Council, my department won an award for a project … the officer resonsible for the project was the one who completed the nomination. One of my current clients asked me to help them prepare an application for a national award … and then I remembered the Cert 4 in Small Business Management I completed last year. We prepared our business plans as part of the course – and our instructor explained that some of the material could be used WHEN (not if!) we entered our businesses in any awards.

Finally, if you still need convincing, check out this post from my mate Bec at The Plumbette, “Why You’re Crazy Not to Nominate Yourself for the Kidspot Voices of 2015“. Bec was one of the Kidspot Voices of 2014 Top 30 Personal and Parenting blogs, so she knows what she’s talking about!

No excuses peoples! Have you nominated a blog (yours or someone else’s) yet?!
