What I Wore: Problogger Conference

Janet Camilleri · 04/09/2014 ·

On Sunday afternoon late, I returned home from a whirlwind four days on the Gold Coast attending the Problogger Conference (aka PBEvent) – learning, networking, chatting, taking notes, and being inspired and dazzled by all the bloggy goodness what all the bloggers were wearing!

Of course I packed way too much and didn’t end up wearing half of the clothes I took, but as we drove down I could take a huge suitcase and not worry about excess baggage charges (lucky me, hey Vanessa from Style and Shenanigans?!).

I know that a capsule wardrobe and packing lighter is a “thing”, but personally, I like to have options. I just don’t know what I want to wear until the actual day – and as even the meteorologists and weather forecasters can’t get the weather prediction right, what hope have I got?!

1. L’Oreal Niche Event

I was thrilled to be invited to the exclusive L’Oreal event on the Thursday night, where a bevy of bloggers were treated to a beauty workshop, champers and canapes. This I could get used to!

My choice was this monochrome dress from Rivers ($39.95) – I bought it a couple of months ago (even before I lost 5kg) – but I think it looks better now (if I do say so myself!). I wore it with my favourite cheapie chandelier earrings (Diva, about 5 years old) and nude heels ($10 at Kmart this season).

I felt like a million bucks and yet the entire outfit comes in at just on fifty bucks – so I’m counting it as my first entry in the Mystery Case “Outfit Under $100” challenge!

2. Conference Day 1

It was a no-brainer for me – I just “had” to wear my favourite new tunic from Katies, bought on special for $20 (reduced from $59.95). Want to hear a funny story? Turns out my stepmother already owns this EXACT. SAME. TUNIC. Like (step)mother, like daughter, hey?!

I’m wearing it with Kmart leggings ($10) and suede ankle boots ($10), and my new favourite Dichroic Crystal necklace ($10 at the Ekka).

Again, an entire outfit for under $50 – Entry #2 in the Mystery Case Challenge 😉 .

3. Conference Day 2

Casual comfort ruled on Day 2.

I’m wearing my fave black jeans from Just Jeans, a sheer floral shirt from Jay Jays (I think it was ten bucks last Winter) over a cami, and black ballet flats.

4. Sunday Brunch

The hubster and I stayed one last night on the Gold Coast, waking late on Sunday before heading out for brunch and a walk by the beach.

The black jeans got another wearing, this time with an Emerson from Big W black tee (thrifted $4), and an Ally draped cardy ($15) – so soft it has to be felt to be believed!

Are you able to pack a “capsule wardrobe” – or do you need a range of options to choose from, like me?!

It was fab to meet you Janet. Loved all your outfits and how you can turn up the style dial big time without splashing too much cash. I can only imagine how much I would have packed if I was not restricted to flying! No capsule wardrobe for events like this for me! x

I’m the opposite. I turn under-packing into an art form.

Love your style and super pleased you have joined my Outfit under $100 challenge. I headed in to Katies to try and score one of those tops after seeing you in it, but they were sold out.

All great looks on you Janet. Ilove that you’ve done the $100 Mystery Case outfit challenge. I love Emerson from Big W too. I got some cargo pants from Just Jeans on sale for $29.95. Of course I had to by black and khaki. I purposely bought them a bit snug for some incentive. i was totally going to say you’ve lost weight. Looking good. xx

Now don’t you look fabulous in your Rivers dress – gorgeous!
I find it almost impossible to travel ‘light’ – consequently I’ve been hit with excess baggage fees far too many times to count! xx
