One of my favourite pages in the celebrity gossip magazines (not that I read them very often) is: Who Wore it Better?
It just goes to show that one outfit can look very different, depending on who is wearing it and how they accessorise it.
And it also demonstrates that just because you might be a stick thin celebrity with pots of money, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the latest fashion look is flattering on you ๐ .
In a similar vein, one of the Australian style blogs I follow has a regular feature, entitled “The Model and Me“.
It’s extremely popular, which doesn’t surprise me at all. While we may admire a look or style when we see it on a model, it’s much more helpful to see those same clothes worn by women from the real world.
This is just one of the reasons I am so enthusiastic about my ongoing role as an ambassador for the Australian designed fashion label, Vivid International.
Add to that the fact that they’re well made, affordable, and they look just as good on real women as they do on the model (no, I’m not just talking about myself – take a look at how good Jo Castro from Lifestyle Fifty looks in Vivid styles!) … well, it was a match made in heaven!
Vivid’s motto is “fashion for the real woman” and if you’ve been following me on Instagram, you’ll know that the hashtag I use most often is #fashionfromtherealworld. Perfectly suited!
But enough of my ravings! Check out the pics below and decide for yourself – who wore it better, the model or me?!
Who Wore it Better – the Model or Me?!
Outfit 1: Crinkle Dress with Pockets
Gotta love a dress with pockets! This dress is fully lined, in a cool breathable fabric. And because it’s meant to be crinkled, no ironing required – hooray!
Outfit 2: Monochrome Dress with Frilled Hem
This soft dress with tie neckline and ruffles at the hem is perfect for steamy summer days.
Outfit 3: Shift Dress
The print on the dress I am wearing is from last summer’s collection, and it has been one of my favourites for attending business meetings and the like. So I’m pleased to see the style has made a return this season, in different prints.
Outfit 4: Dress with flared skirt
This princess line dress features a flared skirt – and can I just say, black and white is always right!
Outfit 5: Bamboo tank top
I cannot speak highly enough of this tank top. It’s beautifully cut, so I never have to worry about a bra strap peeking out, or that my tummy is looking tubby. It’s made of 95% bamboo, a natural and sustainable fabric – not to mention the fact that it’s so versatile! I’ve worn it with a black skirt and heels for business wear, and it makes for a great casual look when combined with my Vivid cargo pants as pictured above, or shorts.
Outfit 6: Crinkle dress with embroidered detail
This loose and free flowing is a dream to wear – and again, no ironing!
Outfit 7: Floaty top
I love the pretty pastels in this floaty two layer top – and the short sleeves provide coverage if you are worried about your “bingo wings”.
Seven is my lucky number ๐ , so I’ll leave it there for now … but I’m definitely curious to know:
- Who wore it better, the model or me?
- And which outfit is your favourite?

Thank you for the lovely mention! Yes, I really do love Vivid International styles and they definitely suit ‘every day women’ who want to look stylish but still be comfortable. You look great in all the styles. I really really like the shift dress on you, but the floaty options must be fab for Queensland summers.

I think the shift dress looks much better on you than on the model. I wear quite a lot of stuff from Millers – and their long, slim models are always standing on the beach with the wind ruffling their hair and excellent lighting making them look fabulous. I’m just happy to feel comfortable and to look fresh and fairly fashionable – which can be tricky at times.
