You’re Better Than You Think You Are

Janet Camilleri · 06/08/2015 ·

Pssssstttttt!

Hey you – yes YOU. I have a secret I want to tell you.

Are you listening? Okay, here goes.

Better than you think you are

Did you catch that?!

YOU’RE BETTER THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE.

Lately, I’ve been watching the hubster working really hard to prove himself in his new temporary job.

I’ve seen how Mr 21 is feeling discouraged about job hunting – he’s keen to make the change from fast food, to administration and office work (an aside: if you know of any opportunities, do let me know!).

Miss 18 is shy and lacks confidence when meeting new people.

And as I’ve been continually telling them: YOU’RE BETTER THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE. It’s true! They are all awesome, talented, and hard working (even allowing for my wife and mother biases).

Even in my own work, I’ve wondered what the heck I am doing. I just landed a new client – almost under false pretences. They asked if I could do them a regular Mailchimp e-newsletter. But as I started the first newsletter this week, I felt really dumb – because I haven’t done a Mailchimp newsletter in nearly three years! What the heck was I thinking?

I gave myself permission to take my time, to re-learn the program (not time that I bill the client for, obviously 😉 ). And what do you know, it all came flooding back.

Guess what?! I’M BETTER THAN I THOUGHT I WAS!

The moral of the story is: we are all better than we think we are.

If you have been doubting yourself, I want you to know: YOU’RE BETTER THAN YOU THINK YOU ARE. It’s true!

Is this something that you needed to hear today? Or is there somebody you need to share this with?

Sadly, I think the world is an expert in knocking the confidence out of us – so believe me, we all need some encouragement!

Meet the Middle Aged Mama

Janet Camilleri is an Australian bloggerHi - I'm Janet Camilleri aka the Middle Aged Mama; crazy cat lady, award-winning business woman, and mother of two grown children. I might be a middle aged woman, but that doesn't mean I've lost all interest in looking stylish! I love chocolate, chick lit, cruising holidays and the husbear - and not necessarily in that order wink. I live in Brisbane, Australia, and I'm learning how to fashion a new life now that we have an empty nest - did somebody say "travel"?!
