I have a new fashion obsession: tasselled earrings.
Last winter it was all about the long sleeveless vest, and the tan knee high boots, and while these are both still top of the pops in my wardrobe, this year I have a new love.
In all honesty I’ve hardly worn earrings for years – it’s a wonder the piercings haven’t closed up! Here’s a pic of me on my 23rd birthday in 1990, wearing my favourite big silver dangly earrings.
Fast forward to 2017 and I realised earrings were coming back in a big way. And not just any earrings – I was feeling the tug of the tassel on my heartstrings …
However, it wasn’t until one blue day in March when I indulged in a bit of retail therapy (after an extremely difficult week), that I decided to join the tasselled earrings fan club.
Suddenly I was the owner of 2 pairs of tasselled earrings, and they have delighted me nearly every day since, for so many reasons.
5 Reasons I’m Loving Tasselled Earrings
#1 – They come in a veritable rainbow of colours. So far I’ve only purchased nude and black – but am keen to up my fashion ante with some new shades such as blue and pink. However I must keep in mind this tip for wearing tasselled earrings from Styled By Bec: choose darker earrings for lighter hair (and vice versa) so that they don’t “disappear”.
#2 – I’m finding they’re very versatile – I’ve worn them with everything from a casual shorts and a top outfit, to business dressing, and evening wear. And, they look great with hair up, or hair down.
#3 – Although tasselled earrings are big on size and impact, they’re not heavy and uncomfortable.
#4 – They can be worn all year round, no matter what the season.
#5 – Unlike many fashion items, tasselled earrings are very affordable, and a very economical way to update your look.
Plenty of reasons to love ’em!
And, it seems I’m not the only one that’s loving them … check out these gorgeous looks from some of the lovely ladies I’m following on Instagram:
One thing I’ve noticed is that nearly all of them have bright earrings which makes them really stand out! Now I’m wondering which colour I should add to my earring wardrobe next …
If you could only have one pair of tasselled earrings, which colour would you choose?!
