A Sentence A Day – June 2020

picking oranges

June was pretty full-on workwise (not that I’m complaining).

I’m grateful for the work (and income) at a time when many others are struggling due to the economic effects of Covid-19. You may have noticed the lack of new posts here on the blog, a sure sign that my life has gotten crazily busy!

Looking back on my diary I also missed a couple of entries, another clue, as some things have to slide when time is at a premium.

So let’s take a peek into what unfolded during June …

1 June – I recently invested in some great new software for my business and this was my first time using it to prepare monthly reports for my clients. It was slow going this time around, but once it’s set up I can see that it will save me hours!

2 June – My regular Tuesday afternoon session with my lovely personal trainer Sally. My goals are to become stronger, fitter and more flexible because I spend an awful lot of time parked in front of my computer, so we have been doing a lot of mat-based work in my backyard.

3 June – Here’s a picture of the #worldsworstcat lying on our bed. She hates being picked up and cuddled so she has a new nickname, LOL. But as I often say, “She might be a dud, but she’s our dud and we love her!”

4 June – Ever have one of those days where you just can’t be bothered with dinner? Yeah, that. Raisin toast it was!

5 June – Winter brings big tides at night, so the husbear did a spot of fishing. Fleur was very impressed with his catch and did enjoy a whiting fillet of her very own …

6 June

7 June – When the husbear does a grocery shop and picks up a magazine for you “just because” … love that man!

8 June – So much work to do, and  we are having ongoing issues with our internet and now my Outlook is playing up, grrrr. We relaxed with a Chinese takeaway and watched the first episode of the new Big Brother to see what it’s like.

9 June – One of my clients has been approached … no, harassed, by another SEO agency telling them their website isn’t optimised. Balderdash! I gave the client a response for the next time they were contacted, something along the lines of, “Actually, according to SEMrush (specialist software) we are ranking for hundreds of keywords with over 30 relevant search terms in the number one spot, thanks anyway!” Client thought this was hilarious and was v happy to be able to put pushy SEO person in their place 😉 .

10 June – Our house is also the delivery depot for Mr 26 when he does a spot of online shopping, because I’m pretty much always here to sign for stuff …

11 June – What a fabulous way to end the work week (even though it’s Thursday, I’m taking Friday off)! Business mastermind meeting via Zoom (though the next one might actually be in person!), signed up a new client, got two AMAZING five star reviews from clients AND I finished my jigsaw puzzle.

12 June – Miss 23 had also taken a day off work so we went shopping together, first time in forever!

13 June – Loving our new Ikea furniture in the bedroom, and the rug from Fantastic Furniture 🙂 .

14 June – Since having allergy treatment several years ago, I rarely get hay fever but today I was miserable with it. Couldn’t do anything I was so sneezy and sniffly, yuk. What a waste of a Sunday!

15 June – The antihistamine tablets I took  yesterday hit me like a ton of bricks, I ended up taking the morning off sick so I could sleep them off! Back to work in the afternoon though, so much to be done.

16 June – Visited a prospective client, first time I’ve done a face to face meeting in about 3 months due to Covid-19. Went to shake the guy’s hand and he looked at me a bit weird … and then I realised UH DUR we don’t do that anymore! How embarrassment (PS they still signed on with me though!)

17 June – The husbear has picked up a lot of the cooking duties lately as I’ve been pretty much chained to my desk. He’s a much more experimental cook than I am – tonight he made spaghetti and meatballs, what a clever bear!

18 June – We unwound after work with a Netflix movie, a romantic comedy “Love Wedding Repeat”, a bit of light relief after a very busy day of work.

19 June – I was interviewed via Zoom for an upcoming edition of the Social Snippets podcast, about all things Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).

20 June – Now that travel restrictions have been relaxed, we headed up to Toowoomba (about 150km) to visit family for a backyard BBQ – and picked some oranges from their tree!

21 June – Met up with an old friend from my Footprints days for coffee – it’s such a small world, turns out she works in the same building as Miss 23!

22 June – Booked our roof restoration! Unfortunately we have to wait quite a few weeks but at least it’s booked, right?!

23 June – A trip to the dentist, one of my old amalgam fillings needs to be replaced so I’ll be going back again next month.

24 June – I had terrible heartburn this evening. I’ve only had it a handful of times in my life, not pleasant at all. I think it may have been triggered by the coffee I had about 9pm, even if it was decaf.

25 June – Such a thrill to actually attend my business mastermind workshop today, after months of Zoom meetings. This was the view from our meeting!

26 June – It looks like the husbear will continue to work from home for some time – lucky we get on okay and have adapted quite well to sharing my office! Only frontline / essential services staff are in the office and some are seated in his section, to keep them socially distanced from each other.

27 June – Visited my sister for lunch, the first time we’ve had a chance to catch up in person in months … this is her dog Willow.

28 June – One of my clients has bought new premises for their business so we went to a wine and cheese “housewarming” event … this is what I wore.

29 June – We took one of our cars in for repairs today, might have stopped to pick up some new cushions I’d had my eye on too.

30 June – We are keen to get a patio in the “L” of our home behind the garage, so had a couple of tradies out to give quotes.

It’s been a busy month with work piling up, and with the increase in earnings, I’ve also been doing my bit to support the economy 😉 . At the same time it’s been lovely taking the first tentative steps towards having a social life again!

And now we are officially halfway through 2020, a year that has certainly been like no other … let’s hope the next six months are better than the first!
