After experimenting with a sentence a day last month, I got hooked.
It’s simple, it’s quick, and I enjoyed looking back on the month that was – plus, you guys seemed to like it too!
So here’s what September looked like for this Middle Aged Mama …
A Sentence a Day in September
September 1 – As I already work in the digital space, I wasn’t sure how much I would get out of the free Click Digital Expo – but the price was right – and turned out I learned a LOT.
September 2 – I typed up all my notes from Click yesterday, which will really help me remember all the tips I learned about Linked In, the legal aspect of working online, and some great low cost digital tools.
September 3 – A quiet Father’s Day, pottering with the hubster in the garden, where we planted daisies and lavender in pots.
September 4 – Excited to get stuck into my work today, as I have a new client on retainer!
September 5 –
September 6 – Celebratory lunch with a friend, who has just found out she is a finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s awards – although she’s not allowed to announce it on social media yet!
September 7 – Tonight we went for dinner at a Thai restaurant with Miss 20 and her partner, before stopping in at their apartment to visit with the grandkitties.
September 8 – Finished my latest 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle π .
September 9 – Miss Fleur turned 4 today, so we sang her happy birthday and gave her some fresh prawns as a birthday treat.
September 10 – Another quiet Sunday, gardening, washing, blogging, and starting a new jigsaw puzzle.
September 11 – I have an ulcer on my tongue – ouch! – which I blame on too many Fruit Tingles …
September 12 – Miss 20 came for dinner and we had a fun family night watching some old home movies from our trip to Tassie in 2001.
September 13 – Business networking evening at “The Buzz”, the first such event held by my favourite radio station, 96.5.
September 14 –

September 16 – Hubster and I headed into Southbank and the Old Botanic Gardens for a date this afternoon to celebrate 10 000 days of marriage!
September 17 – Caught up with my dad and stepmum for a stroll around the Manly markets, and an amazing lunch of braised beef short ribs, buttered greens and sauteed chat potatoes at my Dad’s boat club – YUM – and pear and almond tart for dessert.
September 18 – I’m working on the editorial for a shopping centre magazine and spent most of the day on the phone, chasing down sources.
September 19 – Poor Mr 23 has the flu – doesn’t matter how old they get, they still need their mama when they get sick!
September 20 – Continuing on the magazine project – head down, bum up!
September 21 – I wore my new shirt dress from Rivers today – the one I bought at DFO last month – there’s nothing like wearing something you feel good in!
September 22 – Miss 20 visited as she had a flex day, always so lovely to see her.
September 23 – Mr 23 is still bedridden with the flu, poor boy.
September 24 – Caught up on some housework – washing, folding, and mopped the floors.
September 25 – Submitted the first draft of the magazine editorial!
September 26 – Oh dear, my throat is feeling a bit sore and the hubster has a cough …
September 27 – Up bright and early to attend a business breakfast with the local Chamber of Commerce.
September 28 – Now the hubster has come down with the flu; my throat is still a bit sore but that’s about all (thankfully!).
September 29 – Still got a sore throat but have continued to work, as I have a couple of deadlines.
September 30 – I’m keen to do more presenting and conducting of workshops as part of my business, so I submitted an application to speak at a conference here in Brisbane next March – fingers crossed!
As you can see, I still didn’t exactly manage to pen a sentence EVERY day – but I’m definitely making it more of a habit, I only missed 3 days this month compared to 6 days last month!

The sentence a day thing is is such a cool idea – especially for people like me who struggle with brevity π Summarising the high (or low) point/s in the day in a sentence helps make the day memorable – and it beats the hell out of a 30 minute diary session!

Yes it can indeed be quite a challenge to keep it to just one sentence sometimes! And other days I’m like: I got nothing …. π

Glad you’re doing the sentence a day thing. I really enjoy both the habit & reading other people’s sentences a day….& yep, I’m aware that grammar is all over the place!
