When you work from home like I do, days can go by where you don’t leave the house; you don’t see or even speak to any other human beings (besides immediate family members).
And so it seems perfectly normal to me, that I have conversations with my cat, Miss Fleur.
Here is how these little chats usually go …
Top 5 Conversations with My Cat
1. Well hello there Miss Fleur! And how is my little flower kitten today?! (After all, Fleur is French for flower!)
“Can’t talk Mummy. Sleeping. Zzzzzzz …”
2. Where is it? Where is it dahling?! (When she is chasing, a moth, a lizard, or a toy …)
“I’m not sure but I think it might be in this paper bag … “
3. You geddit! You geddit dahling! (see #2)
“Look mummy I did get it! I’m such a clever kitty!”
4. Cheeky chops! Would you like some cheeky chops? (Although Miss Fleur doesn’t like being picked up, she *does* love it when I grab her little face in my hands, and rub her chops both her cheeks π .
“Why yes, I *would* like the cheeky chops! Here’s my face – start rubbing!”
5. Are you hungry? Would you like some cat food/fresh fish/prawns?! (Funnily enough, the answer is always a very enthusiastic MIAOW – usually before she leads us over to her dinner tray!).
“Gimme gimme gimme! I *loves* the fresh fish!”
Now that I’ve confirmed for you once again, that I am indeed a crazy cat lady – what sort of things do YOU say regularly to your pet?!
Jenni says
Hahaha I love this post! I also work from home, so can go days without leaving the house or talking to other humans apart from my 3 year old.
So my cat, Jett, fills the void! He’s Siamese so very, very vocal, and sometimes (OK usually…) will initiate the conversations!
He’s particularly vocal around bed time – if he deems it too late and wants to go to bed, he’ll scream at me and run between where I am and the bed room until I eventually follow him so he can go to bed.
Janet Camilleri says
They might be cats Jenni, but they really do have their own personalities! We are really mean and don’t let Fleur sleep in our room – something to do with her attacking unsuspecting feet during the night. So now she’s wised up she hides UNDER our bed when she knows it’s nearly bedtime. The only way to get her out is to feed her (again!) – she is one clever cookie!!!

My Ralph sounds similar to your Jett, Jenni. He and I spend many days at home alone. Sometimes, if he can’t find me, he’ll sit down and scream out what sounds very much like, “Muuuum!!” We have conversations whenever he is awake about all kinds of very important stuff. My partner is often away for weeks at a time for work and Ralph is my little companion. Don’t know what I’d do without him.
Janet Camilleri says
Miss Fleur comes in to my office looking for me, with a very particular, very indignant cry, when she wants attention!
Sammy says
This sounds like me in a nutshell.
The main convos with either of the three cats are – Hey “cat nickname/name”, hows my fluffball?, Do you want some foodies? && Let’s cuddle!

<3 this post so relatable lovely

I showed Miss 19 this post, and she was like, “we say heaps more than that to Fleur” – which is true – but as I told her it will just have to wait for another blog post LOL! Fleur is looking particularly fluffy at the moment, must have her winter coat x
Pinky Poinker says
That is very similar to the way I speak to my Chihuahua. He talks back to me with a Mexican accent. I love the photos of Miss Fleur. She looks like a character.
Janet Camilleri says
A Mexican accent? That is so cute!!! And yes, Fleur is a real character and deserves her nickname of the Princess Diva Puss Kitty x
Mel says
Hahahaha, love this post. I have two bunnies and talk to them regularly. Often “Hey Ruby, how you doing?”
Love them both! And don’t worry, I’m slowly becoming known as the Crazy Bunny Lady π
Janet Camilleri says
Cute! We aren’t allowed bunnies in Queensland or I’d probably be crazy about them too. I held a baby bunny for the first time when I visited NZ about 3 years ago and just fell in love!
