What About Every Night Style?!

my every night style

I’ve been joining up regularly with Styling You’s “Everyday Style” challenge for two years now, and it really has helped me feel better about myself.

Working from home, it’s often tempting to take the easy option, and not really bother with my appearance. Joining in with #everydaystyle has really motivated me to make an effort, even if it IS only myself and the kitty that see it! Just because I’m at home, doesn’t mean I can’t love the clothes I’m wearing and feel good about how I look!

But what about our every night style?!

I was guilty for a long, long time – of not really bothering with my every night style. I mean, it’s not like anybody saw me wearing my nightie, except for my kids, and the hubster … it’s not like he counts or anything 😉 .

But then I realised: we spend at least a third of our lives in our night wear. Many change into it as soon as they get home from work; others don’t get a chance to change out of their nightwear til close to lunch time (especially if they have small children!); while some just can’t be bothered at all on weekends or days off (isn’t that right, Miss 19 …)!

So just like our everyday style, we may as well wear something that is not only comfortable (for sleeping), but makes us feel great about ourselves at the same time.

Sharing My Every Night Style

My every night style of choice is a simple satin chemise nightie – all year round. I used to be a cold little frog that had to wear flannel PJ’s, bedsocks, and multiple layers in winter, but since my hysterectomy my thermostat has changed and even on the coldest nights, although I might go to bed in PJs I have to ditch them after an hour or so because I overheat.

I love my satin nighties! They are so silky and soft, and I feel pretty in them. I don’t need to wear a bra, yet still look reasonably decent.

Your every night style might be completely different – there is a great range of mix and match tops and bottoms available (personally I find it hard enough to work out that sort of stuff in the day time, let alone at night!).

Or, you might prefer baby doll PJ’s, t-shirt nighties, satin lounging pyjamas, a glamourous long negligee, a sweatshirt and trackie dacks, or even sleeping in the raw (not such a good idea with grown children in the house) …

Just remember to make it something you love. Throw out your ratty nightwear, or your hubby’s old t-shirts – you deserve better than that! Why not make it your New Year’s Resolution?!

What does your current every night style look like?! And would you be game enough to share your #everynightstyle on Instagram or Facebook?!
