Felt Pen for your Lips?!

Janet Camilleri · 10/06/2014 ·

Have you ever thought about how awesome it would be to have a lipstick that was just like a felt pen?

felt pen for your lips - it's a new lip stainIt’s not such a silly idea when you think about it.

A lot of the gear in our makeup kits is not unlike a child’s school stationery supplies.

  • Lipstick is just like a child’s crayon when you think about it;
  • We use lip pencils and sharpeners;
  • Our makeup brushes look like they are from our art class;
  • You can get eye liners that automatically sharpen as they wind up, like a different style of crayon;
  • Even my concealer reminds me of the glue stick from my school days!

So a lipstick like a felt pen? Why not!

And that’s exactly what I found at Priceline last week. The brand is called Sassy by DB; the product is a lip stain; the colour I chose is Pink Grapefruit.

And I am loving it!

The felt tip pen is easy to use as a lip liner, for a neat and accurate line.

Change the angle and apply the lipstick; a light coat for a very natural look with some colour; or add an extra coat for a bolder look.

It has the staying power of a permanent marker, compared to most lipsticks!

with lipstickI also bought a Savvy lipstick in Plum, which is much the same colour and adds a bit of sheen if I decide that is what I want.

Ages ago I was lamenting the fact that my favourite lipstick has been discontinued. It seems I have finally found a replacement!

You can buy the Savvy Lip Stain Pen for just $8.99 from the website or any Priceline store.

This is not a sponsored post – I am just in love with my new lipstick!

    I’ve always been a coloured lip gloss girl. I’ve never seen or heard of a felt pen for your lips! I’m not great at following my lip line and I like the normal lip liners because you can smudge out any errors, can you do that with the pen?

      I’m the opposite – gloss always feel greasy and annoying to me! You’re right though, a lip pencil is definitely more forgiving than the pen.

    I am still grumbling that my all time fav lippie was discontinued, how can companies be so inconsiderate? I like a bit of shine in my lipstick and have not got on the matt lipstick bandwagon at all, but I do like the sound of it’s lasting power, seems impossible to have shine and stay-a-bility! xx N

      I think I prefer a bit of shine which is why I combine it with the lipstick over the top. But just on it’s own, with just one coat, it looks very natural.

    I’m a lip gloss addict but have one or two lippies that I stash away for special occasions. Little girls regularly raid my makeup drawer and I’m sure they’d have a field day with that lippy pen!

      Wait til they get older. Miss 17 has an impressive makeup collection and now it’s me borrowing/pinching from HER!

    Now this sounds like my sort of lipstick, easy to apply! Although I can’t remember the last time I wore any lippy – shame on me! Em – #teamIBOT xx

      Really??? That’s the one thing I never leave home without – a bit of lippy!

    I use another brand’s lip stain for an everyday, slick of quick colour… Its fool proof!!!

      Ooo do tell – what brand?!

        It’s Covergirl Outlast Lip Stain… it smells fruity too so I struggle to keep my 5yo diva from pinching it.

          Awesome – I will keep an eye out for it and give it a try!

    I’ve never heard of these before!! It does seem crazy, but I can see how effective it would be. I think I’ll stick to my lip gloss for now though 🙂

      I’m not really one for lip gloss – too greasy for me, so this suits me well 🙂

    I might have to try this one. Have been looking for a new colour too.

    I’ve been using a Revlon felt pen lipstick for years. They’d better not ever discontinue my colour or I’ll be devastated. I can’t believe they did that to you Janet!

      *sigh* it’s not the first time it’s happened either Pinky. It’s just rude isn’t it!

    Oh awesome. I do love a long lasting lip colour.
    I’m really unhappy with the colours I’ve got atm. Mostly now I just use lip liner and some gloss. I need to find a great colour for me.

    I like idea of this. However I would need to put my glasses on to draw the lipstick on as I’m blind without them. I could end up with squiggles on my nose or anywhere! Lol.

    Do you find that the pen dries your lips out? I love the idea of them but I’m a bit scared I’ll end up looking like I’ve been eating salted peanuts all day…..x

    • Janet Camilleri says

      12/06/2014 at 7:17 pm

      Surprisingly not, though it is a dryer texture than what I’m used to.

    I might need to ‘case’ this one myself. I always struggle to keep lippy on. I wonder if I will be able to find the right colour….

    Lip pens are great and so easy to use, I love the Revlon one. I think my favourite lip stick delivery system is currently the Lip crayon. Another super easy one to use. Rachel x
