Filling in the Gaps

When we first moved into our home 5 years ago, there were two cut-outs in the wall between the formal lounge (now media room) and dining room.

Although they made an interesting feature, the reality was they just weren’t practical. Noise from the kitchen and dining would bother people in the media room trying to watch TV or a movie, and vice versa. So the hubster (who is very handy – did you see the reno he did to our walk in wardrobe recently?) filled them in.

We knew it would be almost impossible to match the wall paint so we decide to make a feature out of the slightly recessed niches that were created, by painting them in a different colour.

It looked great – but bare – for a very long time, mainly because we didn’t know what to put in the gaps!

On our last trip to Ikea I picked up 6 photo frames and decided they would do nicely. Except – what photos or prints to put inside them?

I got creative on my computer and found a series of monochrome seashells in clipart, which I then re-coloured aqua, before printing and framing them.

Voila! I’m quite pleased with the end result!

What do you think?!
