Ikea Shelf Style: Hacks and Inspiration!

Janet Camilleri · 30/07/2015 ·

For the past few months, I’ve been inviting various friends, family, fans, and complete randoms, to share their Ikea Shelf Style with us.

(By the way, I’m always looking for new talent, so if you have one of those cube shelves – it doesn’t even have to be Ikea! – in your life, drop me a line right now!)

So far we’ve seen “those” shelves in family rooms, dining rooms, master bedrooms, entries and hallways, craft rooms and children’s rooms. (I’m still hoping to feature some in a bathroom, but alas it hasn’t happened yet.)

We’ve seen them in white, black, and every colour in between – including some that had received a bit of a makeover using chalk paint.

My only regret is that I have likely shot myself in the foot, and can forget about Super Amart approaching me any time soon to do a collaboration like I’ve seen on other blogs … 🙁 (Although we have had at least one guest show off their Amart version of the famous shelves, due to living over a thousand kilometres from the nearest Ikea!).

At the moment, I’ve run out of guinea pigs lovely people to share their Ikea shelf style with us, so desperate times call for desperate measures. I turned to Pinterest, and found a multitude of great hacks and inspiration. Here are some of my favourites:

Kidstuff

Delight the kidlets in your life by using a set of Ikea shelves to create a shopfront or even a dolls house …

Grown Up Fun & Games

Here are some Ikea shelves put to good use as a cocktail cabinet and bar 🙂

If alcohol is not your thing, why not show off your shoes …

Or organise your craft supplies?

Pets Like Ikea Too

And don’t forget the furry family members!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to convince the hubster that we NEED this cat hidey hole, bed and scratching post for our Miss Fleur …

Which one of these great ideas is your favourite?

I love the craft supplies shelving idea – that speaks to my inner neat freak (the one that has had to be deeply buried within me since I’ve had kids!!!)

I like the craft supplies shelves too and I don’t even craft. It makes me want to though 🙂

I live in Brisbane, Australia, and I'm learning how to fashion a new life now that we have an empty nest - did somebody say "travel"?!
