Laundry Renovation

Janet Camilleri · 05/11/2014 ·

The hubster is quite the handyman – just check out my new laundry renovation (and if you’re really keen, you can also see the makeover he gave to our walk in-wardrobe).

He’s managed to transform a basic, boring, laundry, into a much more stylish laundry/kitchenette combo. (For those who may be wondering, the kitchenette is for the benefit of our 20 and almost 18 year olds – this is what happens when you have older kids!).

(And yes, that IS two washing machines you can see – click on the link for the full story.)

Laundry Renovation – Before:

Before Laundry Renovation

Before our Laundry Renovation

It’s spartan, it’s boring, there is no cupboard space, and the taps look unsightly. Although perfectly serviceable, there’s nothing inspiring about the way our laundry was looking …

2. Work Gets Underway:

1st step in the laundry renovation - remove the washing machines

The work begins by stripping out everything – at this point it gets a bit scary! Not to mention the challenges of getting the washing for a family of four done, without an operational laundry …

3. Laundry Cupboards are installed:

4. Ta da! Our laundry renovation complete with kitchenette:

I’m so proud of the hubster – he’s done a great job, and our new look laundry is perfect for a house with two teenagers!

Are you jealous of my laundry reno?! Bet you don’t have two washing machines – or a kettle, bar fridge and microwave in it! 😉

Linking up with My Little Drummer Boys for another Wordless Wednesday.

    What a great idea!

LOL it looked tidy in the “before” pics at least (which definitely wasn’t always the case)!

Wow – can you send your hubster over my way?!! I have some reno jobs that need doing and my hubby is never hear enough to do them! LOVE the new look laundry/kitchenette and I completely understand the reasoning behind the kitchenette – having older kids myself!!

Sadly his long service leave is now over so he’s back at work, no time for fun projects like this now 🙁

Yay! Let’s hear it for 1967 – all the best people were born that year (although 1968 is pretty cool too – the hubster was born then!).

If I had all this in my laundry there would be no room for dirty clothes! Looks fabulous, you have such a clever hubby 🙂

We have dirty clothes baskets in both the bathrooms – I only bring them out to the laundry when I’m sorting and putting a load on 🙂

No! We don’t! We just bought a new washing machine because my rusty old thing finally died. I thought about a front loader because they’re much more economical but I didn’t like the idea of having to bend over.
It looks very modern, clean and swish Janet.

Your hubby does a great reno. We have actually recently converted our laundry into a laundry/kitchenette also. So we have a sink, microwave, bar fridge and cupboards with crockery and cutlery. However we have a B&B room so this area is for our guest’s use. I don’t have two washing machines however!

Janet, I am in love with your laundry (and just a little bit jealous of your hubster’s skills)
You will find doing the laundry to be a pleasure now.

Mmm maybe next time he is annoying me – coz you are on the other side of the country so it would give me a bit of a break LOL!

That looks awesome Janet! Our laundry is just a little nib with a washing machine, drying and tiny sink. I have plans to spruce it up, but so far we’ve just put up a floating shelf above the sink.

Wow, that looks absolutely awesome! I would also love to have my washing machine renovated, but I don’t have a husband as handy as yours! I think I might have to hire someone to get similar results like this. Would you happen to have any advice for finding someone to take a look at my laundry room appliances?
