A bit of fun today, with lots of fascinating and random facts about me and him … a sneak peek behind the scenes of our relationship!
– We met at work (you can read about my first impression of him, here).
– Our first date was going for an ice cream after work one Friday afternoon (30 years ago in December)!
– I was his first girlfriend 🙂 .
– I still have the dress I wore that day – and no, it wasn’t me that kept it! Seems the hubster is a bit of a sentimental guy, and he insisted on keeping it when I wanted to give it to an op shop many years ago.
– The first movie we saw together, was The Lost Boys … we still love a good vampire flick!
– The first gift he gave me was to celebrate our first Christmas together – a silver bracelet, with a dainty charm of two entwined hearts.
– Our first Valentine’s Day together, he gave me a silver heart locket.
– We used to joke that between us, we paid off Brisbane’s Gateway Bridge in the tolls we paid to visit each other (as we lived on opposite sides of the city).
– I realised that he was THE one after we’d been together for about a year.
– And we were engaged about six months later on 5 May 1989;
– With our wedding, exactly a year after that, on 5 May 1990.
– Our wedding day was approximately three years to the day after we met, and nearly 2 1/2 years after we started going out.
– We didn’t live together until we got married.
– Our first argument as a married couple, was over the setting on the alarm clock, the night before we went back to work from our honeymoon. He wanted the radio; I was worried I wouldn’t wake up unless it was the buzzer!
– They say that we marry our father … and it’s true, I can see a lot of similar qualities in my Bear and my dad. Perhaps that’s why they are such great friends today?!
– I’m a (bossy) eldest child, and he is a youngest child, so it made for some interesting times when we first got married!
– I wanted kids as soon as we got married, but my Bear was the voice of reason, wanting to wait until we were more established. In hindsight, I’m glad we waited 🙂 .
– Our first “baby”, was a kitten called Chloe; we adopted her about 6 months after we got married. She lived til she was 15.
– Related: I’m a crazy cat lady, and he’s a crazy cat man 😉 .
– We only realised for the first time this week, that our kids have my initials! It’s only taken 20+ years. I’m JD Camilleri, Miss 20’s name starts with a J, and Mr 23’s starts with a D 🙂 .
– Apparently, we both have a high IQ!
– He needs a lot less sleep than I do, and always has.

– Related: I am not allowed to throw out junk mail or catalogues. They have to go in a special basket until he gets a chance to read them.
– Our money styles are also quite different: I am a spender, and he is a saver.
– We are both pretty much in the middle of the introvert/extrovert scale – I’m slightly more extrovert, he’s slightly more introvert.
– Neither of us can play a musical instrument.
– He is near sighted, and I am far sighted.
– We love nothing better than to sit down and have a cup of tea together.
– We used to fight quite a lot in the early days; it’s pretty rare these days, though we can still get snippy with each other when we are tired and/or stressed.

– His parents’ car has KIZ on the registration plate. We probably need to buy it off them.
– We usually vote the same way.
– We both feel fortunate to have met and married our soul mate. On the surface we may not have much in common, but when it comes to the deeper things, we have a strong connection.
– He wants to retire at 60; I find my work so rewarding, I don’t even want to think of retiring!
- I still go weak at the knees when he winks at me!
