My “Go To” Outfit this Winter

Janet Camilleri · 12/08/2016 ·

It seems no matter how many clothes I have in my wardrobe, I always seem to have a favourite.

Each summer, I tend to have an “everywhere dress“.

In winter, I have a “go to” outfit. Something that’s comfy enough for home, but stylish enough to wear to the shops, appointments, movies, coffee dates. Something I can just chuck on, those mornings when I really can’t be bothered thinking about what to wear.

Presenting my “Go To” Outfit This Winter

The shirt is from Millers last season (can’t remember the cost); while the ponte pants I picked up on sale at Crossroads in June, for just $7.

I’ve worn this outfit everywhere! To a lipstick making class with Miss 19 …

4 Reasons Why This is My Go To Outfit this Winter

  1. It’s not black! In fact, there’s very little black in it at all – just a fine stripe in the shirt. Very rare for winter clothing. And the berry colour is one of my favourites 🙂
  2. It’s not jeans. Let’s face it, I live in jeans during the winter months. It’s nice to have a change sometimes!
  3. It’s comfy as. The fabric is soft, and yes, the pants have an elastic waist – but the long shirt hides that little not-so-stylish detail.
  4. It layers well. Although usually I wear it pretty much as is, when the weather turns cool I’ve combined it with a shawl, and various cardigans, to good effect. I’ve also worn it with a cami or tank top underneath, and the shirt open as a jacket.

Surprisingly for me, the shirt does require a quick iron to look presentable (although the pants are wash and wear). The fact that despite this, it is STILL my “go to” outfit this Winter, says a lot!my go to outfit this winter

Very versatile! Funny, I always change into my “home” clothes when I get home…a habit I picked up from my mum. Some of these clothes are more like rags and so wouldn’t even be fit for a school pickup! Moving to Sydney I had to get a rid of a lot of stuff but I think I have a way to go if we’re going to squeeze into our apartment next year (I’m a natural hoarder like grandma).

Jodie, I have always been the same – put my “home clothes” on as soon as I got home. But now that I am at home all the time, it really wasn’t good for my morale so I had to buy nice home clothes! My hubster is the hoarder in our house, I’m always chucking things out (and getting in trouble for it, LOL).

Gina has some ponte pants in the same colour that we bought quite cheaply from H&M 🙂

Very versatile – love ponte pants! You look great in a checked shirt too 🙂 Funny how we have go-to outfits though – I’m the same. Have a wardrobe stuffed with things which only rarely get worn and then one outfit will stand out as comfy, okay stylish and easy to put on and wear, and that’s the one I choose over and over. It’s exactly the same on this cruise – except my wardrobe is much much smaller!

I have to agree with the “okay stylish” bit of your comment Jo – my outfit’s not the most stylish in my wardrobe but it’s okay. I’ve been curious, what’s the laundry situation on your ship – do they have a launderette, or do you have to use the laundry service (I’ve encountered both on previous cruises)?
